2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumLook at this Daily Kos diary from someone who waited 9 hours in line to vote in FL
Some people who posted on there are saying this long wait time in Florida is mainly in the-African American mostly Counties and in mostly white Counties the lines are not that long http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/11/03/1155089/-Photo-of-My-9-Hour-Wait-to-Vote-in-Florida

(4,551 posts)People shouldn't have to wait in line to vote, btw.
Voting should be quick and accessible. No way should people have to wait more than a few minutes.

(594 posts)Waited 4hrs to vote on Friday. So yes, the poor areas are being impacted by long lines because they have little voting machines.
Poor neighborhoods doesnt equate to black you know. I know u didnt say it directly but you clearly were thinking it. We must rise above such stereotyping. I am white jewish and my voting lines are long here in FL. The pattern seems to be if the voting block is likely to vote democratic (e.g. jewish and black) they are bound to be affected by gop shenanigans.

(3,073 posts)But here on Miami Beach, which is not African American or especially minority heavy, people waited 3-4 hours. So it was pretty horrendous in many areas.

(594 posts)Who tend to vote Democratic. Scott knows what is doing. Supress the democratic voters.

(1,560 posts)My sister-in-law voted yesterday in heavily republican Hialeah and the waits there were 4-5 hours, same at the Miami-Dade Elections office in affluent Doral. The legislatures decimation of early voting is felt across the board. Its incredible that anybody would defend them.

(17,162 posts)I wish we could get a photo of the caucasian voting places.
Any bets on what those contrasting photos would reveal?

(945 posts)....I've said it 39343434908 million times. The people who make these rules regarding voting are elected officials. If we (those of us in Florida) vote to change this in 2014, we will have a much better time.

(1,127 posts)Anyone who does not vote is essentially voting by allowing the wrong candidate to win. Rick Scott would not be stealing public workers' pensions right now if more public workers had bothered to vote.

(945 posts)I'm in a public sector job here in Florida, and NONE of my close colleagues decided to vote when Rick Scott was running. I tune them out when we're all standing around the coffee maker, and they're complaining about Rick Scott.

(6,160 posts)Both swing states. Both have Republican Governors. Any connection there? Quite a coincidence.
Are there any swing states with Democratic Governors having voting problems? I am not aware of any.
Republicans are anti-democracy, anti-vote, and anti-truth. A mountain of disgusting.

(527 posts)I don't think you would see any Republicans waiting 9 hours to vote. They would go home.
It is a shame. The federal government needs to do something about state like OH and FL which use long lines to try to suppress Democratic voters.
