2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe worst, most telling part of the Clinton email scandal
It's not missing email; I genuinely believe there's nothing to see there.
It not the constantly-shifting story about how the server got set up, and who knew what about whether it was permitted.
It's not even the colossal lack of judgment and overweening sense of entitlement shown in the whole enterprise.
It's this:
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/27/opinion/hillary-clinton-drowning-in-email.html
There's your coming Clinton White House, folks: a place where the President will be surrounded by a flunkies picked more for loyalty than judgment, and where staff raising legitimate questions and telling the truth will be silenced while the boss is kept in the dark. You can decide for yourself whether that's more Nixonian, Reaganesque, or W-ish.
But don't worry, be happy and rally around that super-inspiring bumper-sticker slogan: "She won't actually be indicted!"

(58,785 posts)that was given opportunity to flare by joining in the right wing's character assassination. Judicial Watch and the other pros knew that's all they were doing.
The usual ancillary witch hunt and eager wood gathering wasn't confined to the far right this time, though; shamefully, some of those eager to railroad her into prison were from the left, "OUR" side, when we're supposed to be the good guys.
Well, America DOES have good guys, people with good hearts, and a basically good party to vote for. It just doesn't include all of those on the left.

(2,096 posts)Pointing out the obvious is hardly character assassination. Sec. Clinton did this to herself. Stop blaming others for it. Are the NYT and other media outlets also joining the right wing's character assassination or do you reserve that claim just for Sanders supporters? By the way "good guys" don't ignore possible criminal activity just because it's one of our own. They try to find out what happened and don't make excuses when one of their own is in the wrong. I understand your frustration about the email and server issue because this is the candidate you support and this has damaged her but lashing out at Sanders supporters because they aren't willing to blindly support what she did is in my opinion unfair.

(5,946 posts)no Clinton messed up her own e-mail, she didn't follow rules - and she acknowledges that now. She hired an incompetent hack and got him a political assignment at the state department. She did not shop around for a qualified person or have any of her staff do that, just hired a hack she happened to know.
None of this is Sander's fault but you would think he was causing all this problem because of the accusations that get slammed at him and his followers. No this story is wholly owned by the Clinton family.
Sanders did not pick on her while it was being investigated, but now a report is out, it has only been a few days, and it is news. and people will discuss it.
the source being quoted is the NYtimes - they support Clinton for the election so this is not a biased against her source.
this is not a witch hunt, this is a real story.
Slamming the left side of the party is a great way of helping Clinton lose, I have been told more than once here she does not need my vote - good to know. Republicans walk in lock step on issues right down the rabbit You seem to indicate you want a few democrats at the top to decide what all democrats have to think. We are not like that.

(58,785 posts)the rules while she told them to fix the security problem. No intent to commit a crime, and no indictment will come down.
At this point Judicial Watch and the billionaires who fund their attacks are hoping they'll accidentally discover she slept with Vince Foster or something. Otherwise, they'll depend on the anti-Hillary enthusiasts to keep their investment paying off.

And this is all her fault. She also demanded her favorite, little Blackberry and to hell with national security. If this didn't involve Hillary, someone would already have been indicted.

(2,097 posts)Than you've been alive, probably. My party loyalty is absolute. And it is out of that loyalty that I worry about us having a standard-bearer as weak and tainted as Clinton. But your concern is noted.

(2,807 posts)Let me see, did I say something that you can alert on? Hmmmm. Is "hello" offensive?
It's tough around here, walking on eggshells, trying not to offend the socialist wing of the party. Too bad they don't have enough juice to go form their own party, you know, the Socialist Party. I guess we'll just have to keep on pulling our punches so that we don't puncture anyone's thin skin.
See you at the SU.

(55,745 posts)What the missing emails contain is anybody's guess. As some, if not most, were created on the People's time, they contain the People's business.
Putting their content into a "Private" server looks to be a way to keep public information "off-the-books."

(10,650 posts)Hillary's never ending lying about what she did is the worst part SO FAR. She has no character.
That said, there are worse things still to be revealed. This is only chapter one in a long book.
