The presidential primaries are sort of like major sports playoffs.

You start off with a bunch of teams competing to try to get into the World Series, the Superbowl or the National Championship game. The bracket games are played, and one-by-one the losers are eliminated. Eventually, the semi-finals are held to see who's going to be in the big game.

For the Republicans, the semi-finals have been held, and Donald Trump has emerges as the Republican League Champion.

For the Democrats, the semi-finals come on June 7. One candidate is the clear popular favorite, with more scores and more victories than the other. Who the Democratic League Champion will be is virtually certain, really. We're down to the last game and one team is way ahead in the series.

On June 8, the finalists will be known for sure, though, and we can start gearing up for the big National Championship game in November. I'll be rooting for the Democratic League Champion, as always.

Go Team!

many fans are left with the choice of ignoring the big game or rooting for the team they normally wouldn't support ... because the team they love, didn't win their semi-finals game.

to trivialize the election for POTUS a/k/a Leader of the Free World by equating it with the Major Indoor Soccer League.

... and goes home.

The winner of the presidential race gets access to our nuclear arsenal. We better hope the winner is, at the very least, sane.

should trump, somehow, win in the G/E ... managing the nuclear arsenal will be one of those (per, his campaign manager) pesky parts of the POTUS job that he is uninterested in doing.
