2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumFor those wondering what the DU schedule is for calling the end of the primary period:
Skinner posted this today in ATA:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/125910474#post1
...we will announce that the primaries are nearing an end, and members will have one more week to "get it out of their systems".
The final Democratic presidential primary is Tuesday, June 14 in Washington DC. People will have one last glorious day of primary season on June 15, and then Democratic Underground general election season begins on Thursday, June 16.

(744 posts)how "get it out of their systems" is going to work. I think we may need a stomach pump.

(146,317 posts)GD starting on June 8. I'll probably read it, but will be very hesitant to post anything, really, until we move to GE mode.
I can't predict what will happen, really.

(11,175 posts)I guess anyone wanting to read about those right-wing policy choices will just have to go back to Free Republic, where they're being touted every day.

(23,018 posts)Severe criticism of Obama was tolerated here and allowed under the umbrella of 'factual' criticism. Many people left and the site continued to tear itself apart. This primary cycle was worse and the same goes for Clinton. There are far fewer of her supporters here than anti-Hillary people. She is more conservative than any Democrat that might be the nominee. If she is, you better expect worse treatment than Obama got.

(30,481 posts)Clinton supporters will be gearing up for the GE as we have been and also have one more week of Gowdy-like rhetoric supposedly coming from our own side. We have been dealing with it for months, one more week will be ok.
It will be tough but we are like Clinton in the fact we have very tough skin. It's been a great primary season.
Fuck Trump.

(146,317 posts)I really can't predict what will happen here. Looks like the site's going to get an overhaul it its moderation strategy, though, based on other things Skinner has said. I won't predict what those will be. I'll have to wait to read the announcement, just like everyone else.
I'm not sure the 2008 experience will be duplicated here, though.

(1,446 posts)According to what I read here, that is the only way anyone will have any idea of who might get the nomination. Personally, I'm still hoping for O'Malley, since we have no idea how the delegates will vote, he has as good a chance as anyone!

(1,446 posts)whole primary thing, since again, there is absolutely no way to know who might get the nomination. Wouldn't it be great if we could just ask the delegates in advance who they will vote for? That could clear up some mystery.

(6,115 posts)Skinner has said that even after June 15, factual discussions of Clinton's emails and other problems will still be allowed at DU. The tone of the posts will need change, but the discussions are allowed.
yallerdawg
(16,104 posts)Will it be "FBI now reports..."
Or "Fox News says FBI will be considering..."?
DU does have a group called 'Creative Speculation.' Wouldn't that be the place for conjecture about emails and "other problems"?
unc70
(6,115 posts)I don't know quite how things will sort out over the next weeks and months. None of us know what the FBI will reveal. Skinner can adjust things here if reality changes.
There will be other tricky topics here. For example, dealing with the platform.

I have seen digs at HC posters saying, good amnesty is over they will disappear again. Some strangely believe only HC posters were allowed back or that we were they only ones on time out. Those posters are making incorrect statements, bunnies.

(15,859 posts)Far too many people have used this amnesty to just be assholes. Not to mention all the trolling. I understand what skinner was trying to do but I don't think it had the desired effect. Do you?
