MN State Convention-Just Passed! Elimation of SuperD's!

This news just in from a Minnesota Bernie Delegate at the State Convention.

"Just passed !!!! The MN DFL supports the elimination or reform of the Unpledged Party Leaders and Elected Official Delegates (Superdelegates) system to insure proportionate representation of all national delegates from Minnesota that reflect the results of future Minnesota presidential primaries.

We support efforts by the Minnesota DFL to adopt such changes for all states for the 2020 Democratic National Convention. We also request that the current 2016 superdelegates cast their vote at the DNC Convention in a way as to proportionally reflect the MN DFL Caucus Results."

And Minnesota superdelegates are superdelegates by rule of the DNC.

This is, at most, a symbolic gesture. If they try to forced the issue, MN could see its pledged delegates halved or unseated entirely in 2020.

The smell of Oligarchy beginning to get a bit burnt. Lots of things are going to change no matter who is the next President. Both sides, fasten your seat belts...and egos, as well.

You'll need a majority of the DNC. Might need to start working on some States where Sanders DIDN'T win...

toward a more democratic method of electing a nominee. That is good thing.
It is about taking steps toward change. Sounds like change is hard for you.

...the candidate leading in votes and delegates should be the nominee.

Superdelegates have never interfered with that notion.

The only challenge to that equation has come from the Sanders campaign which suggests using the SD process to overturn the will of the majority of voters in this primary and select the person with less pledged delegates and votes to be nominee.

It's a contradictory stance for the Sanders campaign to oppose SDs while actively courting them to undermine the entire primary election process on his behalf. Besides, eliminating them wouldn't change the outcome of this election.

Not yet. As it stands, neither candidate will have enough pledged delegates to secure the nomination. It will have to be decided at the convention . . by super delegates, right?
If all the states where Bernie won big are eliminating their super delegates, doesn't that eliminate people from states who SHOULD be voting for Bernie?

Maybe they should wait until after Bernie has the nomination before eliminating all of this voters.

Something like that.

Bernie-friendly. Not sure if it was finalized, but it seemed like it looked good to pass in both.

Super delegates are the only possible way that Bernie could get the nomination. I thought they were a good thing now
