Related: About this forumSo which national Republican is going to stand up to the party and say voting suppression is wrong?
I think until one does the Republicans will continue to lose ground with minorities.

(35,702 posts)He gets a huge win for reelection in 2014 and then he is set to run for President in 2016 with strong support from very blue NJ. But alas for him, unless it is a very different Republican party in 2016 he will not get the nomination. After the Romney debacle the Republic Party is at least as likely to go hard right as pragmatic for the next candidate.

(12,417 posts)Anyone who would attempt by intimidation or any means to suppress a citizens right to vote should be held as a phariah in the eyes of patriotic Americans. I most just punishment I can think of is for them to lose their own right to vote for life.

(9,044 posts)One guy stook up a few years ago after Florida in 2000. He died mysteriously before he could provide evidence. I suppose that if billions of bucks are at stake, people don't mess around.

(1,214 posts)Now if I can remember their names - one was the former republican gov. of florida (not Jeb). And this morning there was a female republican - possibly another former governor. Sorry details are sketchy, but it seems there are some Republicans who don't like what they are seeing in Florida.

(4,157 posts)I bet most Republican voters like voting early too. They don't think of the issue in strategic terms like the leaders do.

(35,702 posts)And the idea of a national ID was enough to set the hair on fire of tea party Republicans. So why they would go for basically everyone having to have a U.S. Passport to vote is beyond me.
