Final ABC/Washington Post: The Enthusiasm Gap is Huge Factor

Turnout is critical, with Obama’s slight edge relying on robust participation by Democrats and minorities and a competitive showing among independents. But there’s some evidence for it: his supporters are more strongly enthusiastic than Romney’s by an 8-point margin in this poll, produced for ABC by Langer Research Associates. That’s numerically the widest enthusiasm gap since early September.

Said that the candidate with the strongest support has never lost.

So much for that mythical Romney enthusiasm gap.

how much territory Obama eroded in the red states. I think it will be significant: The Affordable Health Care Act is the reason why.

with the right to vote. As Obama said, "Get Revenge" (I know the quote did not apply to this, but the best revenge is getting out to vote).

I hope in Florida and Ohio that every example of waiting more than 30 minutes to vote is documented. In a democracy where you have to work on election day, it is unreasonable to expect anyone to wait more than 30 minutes to vote. That should be a core principal demanded of our voting system.

Don't want to be a downer, but isn't Langer Research a Democratic firm? They may be accurate, but they might also be a little more optimistic than a regular firm. Nothing wrong with that though.

lower middle class African-American neighborhood over the past three days where the turnout in the mid-term elections was 7%. That's not a typo, 7% turnout.

I've knocked on 192 doors since Saturday and spoken with many others as I'm walking from house to house. I've been amazed by how many people have already voted and the number who've said "There's no way I'm not voting for my President."

The key will be to capture that type of enthusiasm in the coming years.
