Why would Sanders want to meet with the head of the Democratic Party, Obama ....

rather than just a potential nominee for President, Clinton?

Perhaps because President Obama is the head of the Democratic Party!

It appears that some Hillary supporters just can't figure that puzzle out!

They knows stuff!

However, the OP's implication is off base.

The President is meeting with Bernie to try an unify the party. This isn't rocket science

He's the one requesting meetings.

His campaign leaders' disrespectful comments about our president this morning are another foolish move. It's poor campaign strategy to ask to meet with the president then belligerently say that the president can't tell Bernie what to do.

They'll be lucky if Obama doesn't cancel the meeting.

Jesus, you gotta be kidding.

Why do I get the feeling that instead, some Hill fans are just pissed that Obama and Sanders are having a private meeting together. And maybe the emotions involved are either jealousy or rage, in any case, this seems to be something only a really sensitive type supporter could get upset over...

Why announce the meeting unless it has something to do with the campaign? From our outsiders' perspective, if it's about the campaign, why not talk to the other campaign?

It just sounds weird. It's like Sanders wants Obama to lean on Clinton for concessions without ever communicating with her in the first place. Of course we don't know if the Sanders & Clinton campaigns have been in communication with one another but so far there is little to indicate that. He already has his platform picks on board but I don't recall how that was arranged.

can all agree he is an incredibly gracious and magnanimous man and leader. I would say he is an excellent role model to look to for smoothing the frayed feelings and emotions of this primary out. Its great that he's meeting with Bernie and I think we will all be the better for it. I don't see a downside unless you're looking for yet another bear to poke.
