OMG, undecided voters are a lot of work.

I work in Ohio although I live in PA. My workplace is a bastion of right wing conservative Republicans. I am the "token liberal" and no one forgets it. But our receptionist, a mom with 2 young girls and this full time job as well as a part time job, had indicated that she was undecided. I don't get it, but I know that she is a low-information voter. She does not pay attention to politics and knows little more than what she is seeing in the ads.

I have spent a lot of time talking to her and answering any questions she had. She was getting confused with all the rhetoric and ads, and said that she was not very excited about either candidate. Well, Friday I asked her if she had made a decision yet, and she said "I'm sorry, but I have, and I am voting for Romney". You can imagine I was disappointed, but I just asked her why. She said that, in the end, she had to go with Romney because Obama supports partial-birth abortion, and that was something that she could not get over.

We discussed it, and I made it clear that no one "supports" any abortion, but some people believe that it is a private issue that is between the doctor and patient, and the government should not be in the mix making these decisions. She was unconvinced. I asked her if she would please spend some time reading both candidate's platforms. I asked her to read from both right and left leaning articles and get with me. I forwarded her a list of the accomplishments that Obama has made in his first term and also a debunking of some of the ads that are run supporting Romney. I don't know if she looking it right leaning articles.

Well, when I left work today, I told her not to let anyone know how she was voting. If she is still voting for Romney, she will make me feel terrible, and if she votes for Obama, the office will persecute her (as she has seen them do to me). She said she was not ashamed to say that she now really believes that Obama needs another term to finish his work. She looked at more issues, like the economy and jobs and her 401(k), and she does believe that things are getting better.

This was so much work for one vote, but I did it.....and maybe she knows others who are also not really committed to either candidate who will join her in her respect for Obama.

I'm fed up with them. If you can't decide between these two guys, you're an idiot.

to not have made a decision at this point. But idiot or not, this person was going to vote. I had to put that "fed up" feeling behind me and push for Obama without telling her she was an idiot.

Romney is a proven liar, poser, snob, douchebag, and loser. His 47% comment should have guaranteed him a loss. I cannot believe how thick some of these undecideds can be. And I blame the media as well. They are responsible for a lot of fear worry and anguish during election seasons, and I can't remember an election where I've been so worried about vote rigging.

But hey, even if it takes a while, it's worth it if at least one person's mind is changed!

but obviously this woman had other priorities....at least until she really thought about it and learned about it.

These ads in OH are really hard to ignore though, and if you don't do the research on the facts, they can be pretty damning against Obama. They are filthy. I see how some people who are not die-hards in politics can get confused.

You done good.

I think Romney disqualified himself by sending canned goods to the Red Cross. How bad is that?

I can't imagine anyone voting for him. Worse than Dubya. Worse than heckuvajob Brownie.

or any party.....she was really trying to figure out which one would be better. No real excitement for her. If she was totally committed, I guarantee that I would not have tried to change her mind.....I might have argued the facts, but I would not have tried.
