2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHow Bernie will win California (CRUCIAL INFO), please please read:
I made a post earlier about how 950,000 ballots still have to be counted in just 3 CA counties ALONE (there are 58 CA counties total), and similarly the LA times has estimated as many as 3 million ballots still haven't been counted We also know that CA will officially count all provisional ballots as long as they can verify voters were properly registered. Additionally, the absentee exit polls had Hillary up 10 points (55, 45), and The Guardian currently has the race at 55.8% Hillary, 43.2% Bernie. Given that so many ballots have yet to be counted my guess is (and I could be wrong on this), that the current results reflect more absentee ballots (which always favor Clinton) than the ballots cast yesterday. So, what does this mean?
As long as Bernie stays in the race until the convention (which he's vowed to do), CA is required to count the remaining ballots. And this is where YOU come in. If people keep checking their ballot status periodically and/or call 562-201-8999 to inquire about/track their votes, and demand their ballots be counted, then we stand at a higher likelihood of this process running smoothly and honestly. His numbers can only go up from here so let's do this! #StillSanders #AlwaysSanders #OnlySanders
EDIT: So far we know of 1,592,499 ballots to be counted in 10 counties: https://www.reddit.com/r/SandersForPresident/comments/4n76ts/thread_to_post_links_to_articlestweetsetc/
EDIT 2: From /u/jinianc "We need as many Bernie volunteers as possible to be present as observers to verify and watch the ballot counting process. Every Bernie vote needs to be certified. If anyone has any time at all, it is an open process. This is your chance to be a part of the final and most crucial part of Bernie's campaign! If you're able to help out, please respond ASAP. Every day that goes by is a counting day." Information on how to get involved.
EDIT 3: Just to make things even more interesting, the lawsuit that alleges Clinton has been used for electoral fraud and has FBI backing will be filed today. " target="_blank">Source.
From /u/DJ_Lena "trustvote.org RICO lawsuit filed on 6/6 in Ohio. The lawsuit is going to demand that all of the exit polls, 24 exit polls showing the fraud, now be published, that the MEDIA stop suppressing the evidence of crime. And they plan to prove the Election Fraud, that the media is covering up. They say FBI and DOJ are involved. And Ohio has the most stringent RICO law and it can be opened to ALL states"

How about talking up Vince Forster's "murder", Whitewater and Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi, too while you're at it?
All of those proved to be ginned up repug non-scandals as well.
And btw, there will be no indictment. Obama's DOJ will not be bringing charges on the person he just endorsed for president of the United States (FYI: The FBI doesn't indict).
So spit out the sour grapes and loosen that grip on the prayer beads.

(856 posts)IMHO, Media is part of the problem--why would AP report Hillary was the presumptive Democratic Presidential Nominee the night before California's Primary--the state w/ most delegates?? Super Delegates not counted til Convention. It was voter suppression.

(13,141 posts)We know there is cheating, lying, and severe propaganda. Many believe it is collusion, others believe it is delusion, some think it is the Media, some the Republicans, some the Third Way, and some think Obama did it.
Bernie's speech today was so beautiful, hopeful all around excellent.

(1,999 posts)Those remaining ballots are not going to be swinging the state to Sanders, and that nonsense lawsuit most certainly doesn't have "FBI backing."
still_one
(92,190 posts)narrow, it is highly unlikely this will swing the state toward Sanders.
The most important thing is the final results in California will not change the fact Hillary is the nominee because she won the most primaries, and won the most pledged delegates
It is really getting pathetic this conspiracy nonsense

(67,782 posts)still_one
(92,190 posts)missing is that those provisional and vote by mail ballots that weren't finished counting on the 7th, aren't all Sanders votes. There are Hillary votes, republican votes, and other registered party votes.
I really can't believe the junk getting posted here.

Q: Are vote-by-mail and provisional ballots always counted even in "landslide" elections?
A: Yes, every valid ballot returned to county elections officials by 8:00 p.m. on election day is counted in every election, regardless of the ballot type or the margin in any particular contest.

Greg Palast's bullshit that the majority of provisional ballots will be discarded in California is a LIE:
All provisional ballots will be processed; those validated will be counted. Historically, 85-90% are determined valid.

(92,190 posts)From Snopes:
"SA Daily Politics cited a blog post by investigative journalist Greg Palast to support its claim that a majority of provisional ballots were discarded. However, that claim was addressed and largely DEBUNKED the next day, when Dean Logan of the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk addressed fears of uncounted provisional ballots on Twitter and stated that most would probably be deemed valid and added to totals:
All provisional ballots will be processed; those validated will be counted. Historically, 85-90% are determined valid.

(27,445 posts)the 2008 election was called for Obama exactly at 8pm PST well before many of the ballots were counted?
This is so much like Karl Rove in 2012 with his complaint about Ohio being called before all the counties had been counted.
It's statistically impossible for all of those outstanding ballots to be for Sanders. They will all be counted, though. Every last one of them.
bigwillq
(72,790 posts)And I highly doubt he will be the nominee.
Bernie fought the good fight, but Hillary Clinton will be the nominee. Bernie will concede at some point and he will endorse Hillary and work to prevent Donald Trump from being president.

(11,619 posts)For instance: U.S. House of Representatives District 8 has a close count for second place. (In California, the top two will run in the general election. Rita Ramirez (DEM) has a slight lead over Tim Donnelly (REP). IF Donnelly wins, it will be a race between two Republicans, so I am hoping that Ramirez will hold on to her 868 vote lead. Paul Cook (REP) ran away with the number 1 spot.
NO: REP DOES NOT STAND FOR REPTILE. REP IS A CALIFORNIA ABBREVIATION FOR REPULSIVE
U.S. House of Representatives District 12 has a close run for second place between a REP, a GRN, and A NPP. Nancy Pelosi is leading with 78.2 % of the vote, but second place still counts.
U.S. House of Representatives District 29 had 5 Democrats and no Republicans running for the seat. I am glad to say that seat is safe, no matter who wins it.
The voting goes on because every vote counts. A few races have yet to be decided.

Clinton 55.2%
Sanders 43.9%
All other 5 candidates make up the rest %
QUOTE: The latest results haven't changed any of the statewide races. In the closely watched Democratic presidential primary, Hillary Clinton's lead over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders stands at more than 11 percentage points. That's largely the same gap that existed between Clinton and Sanders on election night.
