I never found the Sanders forum on Reddit to be any worse than ours, but the Hillary forum at least had rules that were upheld unlike our crappy jury system that was eventually overrun by the Bernie Bros.

(14,040 posts)I subscribe to several Reddit groups (HRC, some related to my field of work, photography related sub-reddits and TV shows I like to discuss) and occasionally you'll see the sewer creep in but it's usually shut down pretty quickly. It's no worse than DU on it's best days.

I would agree with you that this has a scent of trying to hang a cloud over millions using the comments of five people, but it is four more comments than have been deemed necessary to question the vote of a whole state around these parts.

(761 posts)Would it be too much to listen to them and attempt to understand? I'll save you some effort. From the "real world" in which they live they see their futures defined by global warming and environmental degradation, job scarcity and oppressive college loans, the real possibility their lives are going to be much worse than their parents'. They're scared and angry because they're not seeing or hearing much from their elders that takes their concerns seriously. And some of their concerns are ticking time bombs that require action now.
You got yours, who cares if there's anything left for them. So continue to eat the young. See where that leaves the Party in a generation.

(4,003 posts)Most BS supporters were not HRC bashers, yet all were lumped into the same category with derision and condescension by so many posters.
What is being demonized? The emphasis on climate change? On income inequality? State schools being as inexpensive as they were when us older folks were growing up? The inexorable march of the US towards our own brand of fascism? These themes are ones of passion and agreement to those on DU, or they used to be.
Much of what I saw was derision at how poor at math BS supporters were, how they didn't know when to quit, how IT WAS OVER. There seemed little attempt to understand the passion and the sensibility of his supporters. Yet on it goes...

(13,305 posts)As always you can't have it both ways. If your candidate won, it's on the up and up, and the Bernie crew is as insignificant and unnecessary to the political process as you say they are.....then move on. Focus on the general and in beating Trump.
If they're not insignificant and they are as big a deal as you imply by continuing to pay attention to them, then you better start at least pretending to care if they vote for your candidate or not.
It can't be both ways so figure out which you think it is and get on with it.
I wasn't a Bernie Bro and I don't like HRC. I honestly hated that these two were our only real choices. But I'm dealing with the reality of it and trying to get myself to muster up some degree of enthusiasm. And there are plenty others like me out there. So either start playing nice and convincing people whose vote you need why Hillary is going to be good for progressive causes in America (and no, I don't just mean "She's not Trump!" or just move the hell on and start focusing on Trump. Continuing to whine about Bernie supporters makes it look like you're just keeping it all alive so that you have a scapegoat in the event that Hillary loses.
