Yeah, the Republicans are deeply screwed this fall, and not just for the presidency.
Going to be awesome.

This is nothing new.

Overall ratings mean nothing.

(39,909 posts)When there is that much divergence, it means the game is rigged for incumbents,
through gerrymandering, Big Money and favors owed and by Congresscritters, Media pandering, Party Shenanigans (SEE: Debbie Schultz), and other not so democratic aspects of our system.

(25,471 posts)The House reelect rate hasn't been under 85% in more than 50 years, even as the overall approval ratings have dropped to abysmal levels. In 2014, incumbent rate was 95%.
This is nothing new. The general rule is that people approve of their own representatives in Congress and hate the rest.
Why? Because the others don't get them stuff. It's not any more complicated than that.
The overall ratings mean nothing.

(25,471 posts)They target the ones they can win. ~10% in midterms; 5%-10% in presidential years.
This isn't rocket science. The House reelect rate hasn't been under 85% in 50 years.

(68,576 posts)Seriously, what kind of people root for Republicans in a sly fashion on a Democratic website? What you want the GOP to win because somehow people deserve that because they didn't recognize just how great Bernie is. Let me tell you, I don't know what will happen, but I do know Bernie Sanders would never have won a general. He has not been vetted and would be swiftboated out of the race.

Glad the party waited until the primaries started to wind down to back one candidate.
Bernie will come around at some point and concede and endorse Hillary and do what he can to prevent Donald Trump from winning the White House.
I am for letting Bernie take some time to wrap up.

(546 posts)Since 1946 the Gallup Organization has been conducting an annual poll of the Most Admired Person or the Most Admired Man & Woman. Eleanor Roosevelt finished first thirteen times and Dwight Eisenhower finished first twelve times. Hillary Clinton has finished first a record twenty times. That kind of positive name recognition goes a long way in politics.
