How does the GOP turnout yesterday compare to 2008? (Original Post) auburngrad82 Mar 2012 OP
I haven't seen anyone mention it, so I'm guessing it was a miserable turnout livetohike Mar 2012 #1

. The media is trying so hard to make this a big drama, they wouldn't dare harp on the fact there is no enthusiasm out there for any of the GOP losers, imo.

According to the figures here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Results_of_the_2008_Republican_presidential_primaries

AL is up slightly (from 560k in 2008).
MS is up a lot (from 135k in 2008). <-- this is probably due to the race being effectively over in 2008 by the time they got to MS.
HI was a caucus with no straw poll... so doesn't look like there are attendance figures?

on edit: sorry, didn't read close enough. according to the Hawaii caucus wiki page, there were 1,093 attendees? again, at this point though there wasn't really any contest...

So that would appear to be a significant up this year. Of course, this race was split pretty evenly and probably had a big impact on turnout.

How much are the candidates paying per vote this year compared to previous years?

Not that it will matter in November
