http://www.politico.com/blogs/under-the-radar/2016/06/clinton-emails-state-lawsuit-delay-request-224981#ixzz4D517Fk50The government lawyers asked Contreras to give State an additional 27 months until October 2018to finish work on the request, processing documents at a rate of about 500 pages a month.
I think this is bad optics, it will just feed fuel to the fire that the State Dept. is working to block the investigation especially with the recent incident with Bill Clinton and Lynch. 500 pages a month seems a bit low as that is only about 25 pages a work day processed.

(28,342 posts)Beginning with, and most especially, the Democratic nominee, Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Do not post support for Republicans or independent/third-party "spoiler" candidates. Do not state that you are not going to vote, or that you will write-in a candidate that is not on the ballot, or that you intend to vote for any candidate other than the official Democratic nominee in any general election where a Democrat is on the ballot. Do not post anything that smears Democrats generally, or that is intended to dissuade people from supporting the Democratic Party or its candidates. Don't argue there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats.
------------------------------------------------
From Skinner's Journal: "We are Democrats and we are all Clinton supporters now. Our opponents are Donald Trump and the Republican Party."
So yes, of course it is our business who someone votes and advocates for in the general election.

(2,353 posts)Seeing how the only reason Citizens united is even mentioned in the article is because they filed the FOIA request. The point of the OP is in regard to the email investigation that actions like this I feel will be potentially damaging for the election because while it is not likely some nefarious plot by the state dept. to stonewall any investigation it gives the appearance of such. Sigh...

(67,782 posts)Why are you hinting that the State Dept. is blocking the investigation?
Why are you hinting that a chance meeting between Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch had ulterior motives and had something to do with the investigation?
Why are you questioning the pace of releasing emails?
GeorgiaPeanuts
(2,353 posts)Many republicans think that Obama/etc. are going to block an indictment over the emails and interfere with the investigation...
Actions like this feed the fire, even if there is nothing improper going on.
leftofcool
(19,460 posts)And just so you are aware, there is not going to be an indictment.

(1,901 posts)Republicans don't think, they simply swallow whatever BS they're fed, and this thing they're trying to blow up into something in no way changes the storyline they've already created.

(823 posts)I believe Rachel Maddow went through this several weeks ago. It seems that the archival process is so archaic that the emails to be retained must first be printed then submitted for storage. There apparently is no method in place for indexing the emails received so it literally is a hand search of documents to find relevant emails. That's why it can take months to search what should take only hours.

(2,353 posts)I fail to see how discussing a current event and what implications it could have on the election is supporting a Right Winger group, the very group who opened the floodgates for money in politics.

(3,825 posts)You might want to look him up and it might give you some insight into why posting information that sites his suit as something legitimate wouldn't be considered a good idea here. Just a heads up, if you're interested. I'll give you a hint, he's a Republican hack. So posting something using Citizen's United (the organization) as a source, well do you get the picture? We shall see.

(23,156 posts)do they actually do all day long?
In the world outside of the government, lots of things get taken care of in a vastly more timely manner. Why should this take so long?
Really?
I wish I worked for an outfit where a year or more could be spent on something, and then we'd request an additional two years to finish the job. Maybe.
Where have I gone wrong in my employment choices?

(12,448 posts)I actually had to double check that I was on the right site. Turns out it IS DU, but a post touting a Citizens United (!) suit and implying that a conversation between two people who know each other well is some kind of conspiracy? That post would not be out of place on Free Republic.
