Donald Trump is now polling within the margin of error of 0% with African-Americans

The Republican Party nominee for President rarely does well with African-American voters, due to the party’s conservative views on social issues, its protection of the wealthy, and it lack of support for minority rights. For instance Mitt Romney received just seven percent of the black vote in the 2012 election, while George W Bush received just nine percent of the black vote in 2000. But the flamboyantly racist campaign being run by Donald Trump in 2016 has left him with so little minority support in the general election that he’s effectively polling at zero.

The latest Quinnipiac poll, which is notable in that it consistently skews at least slightly in the favor of republican candidates in its results, reports that just one percent of African-American registered voters plan to vote for Donald Trump. The poll assigns itself a margin of error of 2.4%, meaning that Trump is polling within the margin of getting zero percent of the black vote.

The poll’s sample size nationwide is 1610 people, and if broken down in proportion to the nation’s demographics, it’s likely that around 193 African-Americans were polled. The result of one percent for Trump suggests that just two black respondents in the Quinnipiac poll stated that they plan to vote for him.

Donald Trump had a gaffe last month when he spotted a black man in the audience at one of his rallies, a rare sight, and pointed to him yelling “There’s my African-American!” The popular joke then became that the guy he singled out might be the only black guy voting for Trump in the nation. That’s obvious hyperbole for the sake of humor, but based on these latest polling results which have Trump hovering near zero percent of the African-American vote, it may not be that much of a stretch. Incidentally, the black man singled out by Trump n the rally later went on television and clarified that he’s not a Trump supporter.

"With the latest news that Donald Trump received i (where i is the square-root of -1) votes nationally from African-Americans, according to exit-polling...does the GOP have a race problem?"

"Well, duh."

Actually, I'd pay good money to see Donna Brazile go on Meet the Press and answer an obvious question about the GOP's racial bigotry with "Well, duh."
