(14,732 posts)'well, she wasn't indicted BUT you know that she broke some rules, and there have to be consequences for that'.
Bullshit.
Many of us knew from the beginning that this FBI quest/investigation/whatever you want to call it was another wild goose chase, designed as one more arrow in the RW quiver of made-up shit to accuse Hillar of. We spent week after week on these boards hearing one 'legal expert' after another announcing that her indictment was 'imminent', disregarding the few comments made by actual lawyers or law professors who insisted that this was a huge pile of nothing. And today we were proven right.
So now, some are hurrying onto these boards to insist that we should all still be very concerned because, well, Hillary may have broken some rules when trying to use systems which were more responsive than the antiquated crap the State Department still uses. And, as we all learned as children, when the rules are broken there must be consequences. Or so they insist.
I, for one, am already tired of more of this Debbie Downer crap. Hillary was vindicated, albeit it in the most left-handed, spiteful way possible by ex-Starr Prosecutor Comey and, as far as I'm concerned, that's the end of it. So let me join you in a few choruses of

(59,504 posts)We are incredibly lucky the Republicans picked a truly not electable nominee, who HRC will beat. MSNBC had an article that discussed polling that showed that while HRC beat Trump easily, she was tied with Romney, 2 points behind Ryan and 8 behind John Kasich. We are very lucky they ended up with such a terrible candidate because we have to win.
However, if you look at her favorables, they really took a hit from what she did and the fact that she was not immediately up front and honest when it became public. While it is true that her favorables being above 60 were never going to remain that high as she engaged in a political race, but it was extremely unlikely that they would fall to around 40! The primary cause of that was this story. I have no idea how the fact that she won't be indicted, but Comey's statement was very negative about her actions, will impact how she is viewed.
One think I can see is that the core of people who support her defend her more aggressively than I saw anyone defend Obama - from charges that had no merit - or Kerry, whose genuine heroism and service was attacked by the Republicans. This phenomena is not just on message boards, but I have heard it in real life and I could see it as at least 5 potential VPs defended her on everything on talk shows. In 2008, Obama had many great surrogates, but none who seemed as ready to jump on every attack.
So, while it is good that the announcement of what all of had said was likely has been made, this is a stupid self inflicted wound. I hope that she chooses to speak of how she will work to make actions like these impossible in a Clinton administration -- or simply endorse the changes proposed by the SD IG that the SD has implemented.
