TPP: Petitions and Actions

Moveon.org

We urge Congress to vote no on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). An agreement like the TPP should be negotiated in the full light of day. America must reserve the right to determine our own consumer, health, safety, labor, privacy, and environmental regulations. Do not surrender our rights to trans-national corporations.

Public Citizen

The finally public text reveals that the TPP would offshore more American jobs, lower our wages, flood us with unsafe imported food, raise the price of medicines and expose our laws to attack in foreign tribunals. It is clearer than ever that the TPP might be a good deal for the multinational corporations that influenced the secret negotiations — but it is not a good deal for the rest of us.

GreenPeace

Right now, Congress is considering approving an international agreement that would lead to more fracking here in the US, more burning of rainforests for palm oil, and less protections for American workers. That international agreement is the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which was negotiated in extreme secrecy.

But right now, there is a groundswell of opposition to the TPP - hundreds of thousands of people have spoken out against it. Both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders oppose it.

If the Democratic Party were to oppose the TPP in its official platform, that may be its final death knell.

We can stop this destructive trade deal. Tell the leadership of the Democratic Party to oppose the TPP in its official platform.

Working Families

The drafting committee refuses to include language flatly rejecting the Trans-Pacific Partnership in the Democratic Party platform. With so many working families still suffering from bad trade deals of the past, we can't let this stand. Democrats need to stand by working families and officially reject this bad deal.

We will deliver your signature along with allies before the next drafting meeting on July 8-9 in Orlando.

Bernie Sanders

The Democratic Platform includes a number of very important initiatives that we have been fighting to achieve during this campaign. But one big item is missing: preventing the disastrous Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal from ever coming up for a vote in Congress.

Bernie Sanders opposes this deal, and Secretary Clinton said that she opposes the deal too. So does virtually every labor union, environmental group, and even major religious groups. The Democratic Party must go on record in opposition to holding a vote on the TPP during the lame duck session of Congress and beyond.

Add your name to tell the DNC Platform Committee to make sure the party's platform includes our amendment to prevent the disastrous TPP trade deal from ever coming up for a vote.

Tim Canova

Rather than take a bold stance in opposition to the TPP — which every Democratic presidential candidate eventually opposed — Wasserman Schultz’s handpicked members of the platform drafting committee have refused to add a clear amendment in opposition to this disaster of a trade deal. Instead, they have focused on platitudes in the platform in the hopes it would be enough to placate the progressive grassroots of the party, like you and me.

And the first two have not gone well for you. Can you give it a rest? I hear it's okay to bash Dems at Discussionist. Maybe you get some anti-Democratic party traction there.

That's why there's no opposition to TPP in the DNC platform.

Clinton opposes it. So let's put it in writing!
