2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumNo Trump signs or stickers
By now, in every election, bumpers stickers or signs have been everywhere. In my very conservative district it is eerie there are none for Trump. Plenty for Bernie and Hillary have been out for a while. I suspect Trump supporters are ashamed. I admit I am in Colorado and Trump is not so popular.

(115,735 posts)Not a lot of Hillary stuff either, but that is likely to change for the better after the convention. But it might be even worse for that yammering sphincter after the GOP convention.

(2,550 posts)The fringes, Ron Paul, Bernie and now Johnson.
I see some Trump hats though. Usually on really old people.

A friend's Bernie yard sign was stolen shortly after she put it up. Haven't seen any Hillary signage, yet.

(7,576 posts)I have not seen any support regarding bumper stickers or signs supporting dumdum....I know there voters here who support dumdum but I think they are too ashamed to admit it.

(711 posts)most conservative rural counties in Alabama, Cullman Co. I saw 2 yard signs and one bumper-sticker. I agree, there's a lot of shame among Christian Conservatives. I would feel sorry for them, but they have been sowing the seeds of racial division for decades. I guess it's time to reap now.

Skid Rogue
(711 posts)Of course they're familiar with it. However, they will never admit to the decades of coded, covert, sometimes blatant racism that led to Trump. They were fine and dandy with racism as long as it was cloaked with civility and deniability.
So, no Trump bumper-stickers in Cullman County. I pulled into that crowd with my Hillary bumper-sticker blazing. No one said a word. LOL! I like this shift. Maybe we'll wear our Obama t-shirts next time.
DesertRat
(27,995 posts)And I've seen several Trump bumper stickers and a few yard signs. There's also a truck in our neighborhood with a huge pic of Trump and his logo on the sides and back.
I saw a BenCarson2016 bumper sticker the other day and actually laughed out loud!

Talk about a quality of life issue. I'm so sorry you have to put up with that.
When I first moved back to Birmingham, there was a fraternity across the street flying a confederate flag.

(12,412 posts)but it appears to be that the only places Trump can show this sort of support are sparsely populated areas that never had much lf an economy in the best of times.
I am begining to think that the MSM is riding a wave of their own creation. Trump is so narcissistic that he would not know when he is being used.
beveeheart
(1,369 posts)and I saw lots of Trump signs. I was there 3 weeks - traveled through Wachapreague, Pocomoke, Salisbury, Easton, Denton, Chestertown, Georgetown, Rehoboth, Dover, Milford. Saw only 1 Hillary sign and 1 Bernie bumper sticker. Did have a couple of conversations though with Republican friends who said they were ashamed of their candidate/party and would not be voting for him, probably would not vote at all.

(72,790 posts)And I saw very few of any during the primary, including very few of Sanders

(7,960 posts)Saw a few Trump stickers and signs in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi. Have not seen any in New Mexico but we have seen quoted a few drivers still feelin' the Bern. We saw Only one Hillary sticker and that was in VIrginia.
What this means I have no idea.

(404 posts)Three on my street alone. A lot of positive Trump talk being overheard at the grocery store, barbershop, at work. Even at family gatherings. I think Florida is a toss up.
Dale Neiburg
(698 posts)I've seen about a half-dozen yard signs, most of them in a reddish area of the state. Two bumper stickers for Trump so far, against three for Carson.

(9,267 posts)I pass 1 Trump yard sign on the way to work. Just saw my first HRC bumper sticker the other day. Still a fair number of Bernie yard signs and bumper stickers here.
It's real early for that stuff around here.
whistler162
(11,155 posts)there are about 2-3 Trump lawn signs. Also there is one at the other end of my block.
BlueMTexpat
(15,369 posts)during early voting, holding signs for Hillary.
I can't speak for any other times. But while I was there, I saw TONS of Trump posters, but no actual person there holding them or handing out literature. Their campaign in MD appeared to be "strew, scatter and flee." Of course, MD is reliably Dem, so that may have been a good strategy there. Trump won the MD GOP primary with >54% of the vote.
The most contested races at that particular voting place were for the county school board. School board candidates and their supporters were out in droves!
THIS last is why voting is important. It's NEVER just about the candidates at the top of the ticket. It's about what is happening locally to ensure that we educate voters properly and support good local Dem candidates. Of course, for school board races, candidates must be non-partisan. But one can always find out who endorses these candidates and what their philosophies are by spending a few moments with Google before voting.

Unfortunately.

(6,399 posts)Not a ton of them, but far more than any other candidate. Lots of bumper stickers, a good number of yard signs.
There weren't any for other Republican candidates during the primary cycle either. just his. Thankfully, nobody that I actually know yet. But that's likely because they just keep it under their hat.

(44,173 posts)By this time in 2012, there were many Romney-Ryan signs in my neighborhood. Today there is only one Trump sign, though I occaisionally see an angry white man wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat.

(3,370 posts)I have seen Trump signs and stickers in Philly, which is actually not surprising because there is a lot of TEA in parts of Philly. In the burbs, I see a fair amount of Trump stickers and some signs, and probably and equal amount of Clinton and Sanders support. There are a few cars I see in my neighborhood with Carson stickers. LOL.
A friend of mine went to a flea market in the Philly burbs and reported quite a bit of Trump love and someone selling "Hillary For Prison" stickers.
Friends who live more North and West of the immediate Philly 'burbs say there is plenty of Trump love.
My regular clients at work - all older white men - have expressed desire to vote for Trump.

(3,370 posts)Plenty of stickers on cars and a few signs in both counties.

(4,532 posts)They took most of 'em down after the voting. No republican signs anywhere ... couple of stickers though, why you would choose the more permanent option to support that monster I don't know.
Tree-Hugger
(3,370 posts)I see Carson stickers here now and then (in PA) and I just wonder WHY?? Why would you do that to your car? However, they are willing to destroy our country by voting for these idiots, so I doubt they worry about bumper stickers.

(2,434 posts)burning crosses in our yards or vandalism to our cars, etc. I have recently moved from the battleground state of CO where I knew my neighbors and felt safe putting up my yard signs to the battleground state of NC where I do not know my neighbors and do not know what might happen. This ain't the old days and there is a lot of hate out there.
