2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSame old script. GOP overplays their hand again, it backfires.
By attacking Comey non-stop today, they turned themselves into desperate conspiracy-mongers once again. And they also got Comey to give a comprehensive defense of his decision and also of Hillary. We learned, from Comey
--the no charges decision was unanimous
--Guccifer didn't hack her server
--there is no evidence that Hillary's server was hacked by anyone
--it would have been a double standard if Hillary was prosecuted
--the 3 out of 30,000 emails with supposed "classified markings" were not properly marked and therefore meaningless (he even explicitly said it would be reasonable that someone would miss a few (C)s down in an email chain since there was no classifcation header)
--he thinks the people saying that Hillary should be prosecuted would change their minds if they had all the info he had
--Hillary didn't lie
--Hillary's lawyers acted in good faith when separating work-related emails with unrelated emails
--there was no political pressure from anyone in the administration or the Hillary campaign (he said this over and over)

(7,576 posts)now they want the FBI to investigate if Hillary committed perjury when she testified before Congress.....more wasted taxpayer money. Wonder if the FBI will walk away from that one.

(19,460 posts)You can ask all day long for them to investigate but that does not mean they will. They may even turn it over to Loretta Lynch.

(15,429 posts)That doesn't mean they can't wrap it up in a couple of weeks with another "no crimes were committed" presser with a little"No, Hillary Clinton did NOT lie to Congress" sprinkled on top.

Comey: Hillary didn't lie. Hillary didn't commit a crime. Guccifer didn't hack her server. Not true that others have been prosecuted for doing the same things.
Chaffetz: Do you need a referral from Congress to investigate her statements to Congress under oath?
Comey: Sure do!
Chaffetz: You'll have one within the hour.
So, she'll be proven also to not have lied under oath to Congress.

(833 posts)It actually worked for Hillary.
I also have a feeling that Comey got rather offended by committee member's tone. It was as if
he did some favor for Hillary. He tried hard to frame Hillary to be in very negative but vague opinion
of his.
Today, by answering specific question , he actually helped clear Hillary.
Yes.
