2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTrump's 34 Year Old Daughter is Seriously On His VP Shortlist...What The Fuck?
Well, according to his son Eric Trump and surrogate Sen. Bob Corker (who took himself out of the running to be veep Wednesday), Ivanka Trump would be a great pick to share the ticket with the presumptive Republican nominee.
On Wednesday, after saying he didnt want to be considered any longer, Corker told NBC that Trumps daughter may just be the best pick.
"His best running mate, by the way, would be Ivanka. I know that wouldn't pass muster, probably. But I don't know that I've met a more composed, brilliant, beautiful-in-every-way person," Corker said.
I...seriously is.....what the.....there are no words...

(53,787 posts)If he for some reason (everyone in the country goes crazy and votes for him) he wins in November and suddenly drops dead, the 34-year-old daughter would not be old enough to assume the presidency.
Maybe she will turn 35 before the election.

(1,999 posts)It's actually that the electors have to vote for at least one candidate (either president or VP) who's not from their own state.
Sanity Claws
(21,849 posts)The president and vp can't be from the same state if the ticket wants to be eligible for the votes of all electors.
The shorthand way of saying that is that the two can't be from the same state
Lord Magus
(1,999 posts)While it's generally expected that a serious candidate should be able to win his home state, most of the time the Republican nominee doesn't live in a deep-blue state. (It was a bit murky for Romney in 2012 since it's unclear which state he actually lives in.)
MousePlayingDaffodil
(748 posts)Per Amendment XII, the Electors from a given state -- not all the Electors -- cannot cast their vote for President and their vote for Vice President for two candidates from the same state as the Electors of that given state. The pertinent provisions Article II, Section 1, and Amendment XII, are anti-"favorite son" provisions, intended to preclude the Electors from one state from voting for two persons from that same state.
Thus, the Electors from New York could not cast their votes for both Donald Trump and Ivanka Trump -- they'd have to choose one or the other -- whereas the Electors from, say, Wyoming, could vote for both.

(94,598 posts)As idiotic as the idea is, NOTHING in this article says she's under consideration. Add to which, Trump believe's he can compete for NYS, and you can't win the Electoral Votes for two candidates from the same State.

(28,341 posts)Good Dog, how I wish I could say this would surprise me BUT:
1.) He's credited her largely with guiding his campaign so far - which the moron actually thinks is going "real good."
2.) He believes she can get him "the woman vote."
3.) He doesn't even have to change the stitching on his stupid little hats.
I can see it happening. Wish I couldn't.

It's like America has self-inflicted an inbred hereditary monarchy where we're stuck with a sociopathic narcissistic as monarch and are grateful that his biological eldest daughter has at least a modicum of intelligence and sanity to rein in his worst tendencies (I think this was the case with a few of the Georgian kings, right?). Ugh.
