(25,406 posts)First, I think the ticket needs more balance. And second, Hillary's VP should be young enough to serve two full terms as president from 2024 to 2032.

(58,785 posts)of the two of them on the stump together. I'll be very sorry if it's not Warren, but Rachel's very possibly right in her suspicion that the scheduling of only one speaker, Warren, was leaked to the press to start letting those who want a Clinton-Warren ticket down easily.
Unlike those who hoped for a major Sanders-lead disruption of the convention and were shocked and feeling betrayed at being "blindsided" by his endorsement, most of us can pick up on a clue.

(2,792 posts)And how many vice presidents have ended up as presidents?
The presidency is not a matter of succession.

(2,792 posts)Age is not the issue. It would be highly unlikely for both the president and vice president to die at the same time. In the event that a VP has to take over, he appoints his own new VP.
Come to think of it, how many presidents have died of natural causes while in office? And how old were their vice presidents at the time?
We tend to think of vice presidents as future presidents nowadays, but how many vice presidents have gone on to become presidents immediately following their predecessor's term?
In fact, it is usually the case that the presidency changes parties after two consecutive terms. When Hillary wins, she will be breaking that pattern.

(1,473 posts)They take over for the president in case of impeachment or death. They are the deciding vote in the Senate as the senate President.
I don't think it's wise to waste her talents just for the sake of the GE. If they win the GE what is her role the entire rest of Clinton's term?

(118,829 posts)Study it. Make recommendations to Democrats in Congress. The world economy is changing fast enough that Warren would be kept really busy doing those two things at a global level.

(496 posts)The President having to delegate a lot because there's just too much to do were telling - the Veep is no longer just a warm body but in many cases almost a co-president. The President is still in charge but gives the Veep a lot of authority in different areas.

(2,792 posts)It is not longer a merely ceremonial post. You can be sure that Elizabeth Warren's expertise would be well used by Hillary.

(22,308 posts)then what power does/did the First Lady hold? Far less than a VP.
In recent history, the VP has been chief adviser for the President. He/She is also the most power spokesperson for the President both at home and abroad.
Warren would be a good choice but I doubt it will be her.

(1,473 posts)because it's not like Warren just replaced a progressive, she replaced Tea Bag Scott Brown. Massachusetts needs another Progressive that can win.

(58,785 posts)There are various people most don't know who could run. That really wouldn't be a problem or she wouldn't have been a consideration in the first place.

(2,792 posts)One Hillary will follow conventional "wisdom" and pick a dull or relatively unknown male who is not a senator from a state with a Republican governor. She will pick someone who is "safe" and will not appear to upstage her.
The other Hillary will "go for it," pull out all the stops, and pick an emotional and intellectual hurricane like Warren.
I'm betting my money on Hillary #2. She is not the person many people believe her to be. She is ready to do earth-shaking things as president, and Warren will help her do that. When she is elected, former naysayers will be very, very surprised.
