2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe Best Thing about Melania's Speech?
The best thing is that it's the only thing the media is talking about this morning. There was plenty of ugly crap on stage yesterday, ranging from racism, anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim and anti-just-about-anything-honorable. Someone even brought up Vince Foster, for goodness' sake.
Those things are not being repeated today, in the face of Melania Trump's clumsy copy and paste job on her speech. The whole country is arguing about plagiarism today. Reducing the first day of the GOP convention to that is outstanding. We're not seeing all those other nasty speeches over and over again. That limits their impact. Trump's campaign just looks stupid.

(150 posts). . .and be so shamelessly lazy that your brain takes the rest of the day off by ignoring all the inflammatory rhetoric that surrounded it. Typical. Why would anyone want to think analytically when we can be the National Enquirer magazine? Path of least resistance.

(1,786 posts)It has done a great job of keeping the news cycle off the topic of the central theme played out yesterday at the convention. I wonder what the distraction will be today...

Drumpf's campaign is not ready for prime time.

(146,338 posts)Der Drumpf is totally incompetent as a candidate and he will prove it time and time again.
The more he speaks the better.

(35,702 posts)And with Trump it is usually sooner rather than later so I fully expect that by the end of the day there will be at least one person fired - might not be the right person but with Trump it hardly ever is.
