What were those 2 guys hauling off the stage after the concession speech?

It was a large brown box. You could see it in the shot from behind the podium as the candidates were hugging their wives and their children. My thought: a floor-level teleprompter??

8. The box looked wooden, and was sitting near the podium.

It was in front of the podium, to the side of it. It appeared heavy as the two guys scooted it to the edge to pick it up.

I was gonna call them floor wedges, but they don't look wedge-shaped. Romney wasn't wearing an earpiece, so he needed floor speakers so he could hear what he was saying.
