2016 Postmortem

I was for Bernie. But if you're looking for something to convince people to vote for her, this is the article of the year. This fine gentleman was Solicitor General before SCOTUS and is a professor at Harvard. My family has been proud to call him a friend for many years.
You're welcome.
P.S. Non-Hill people: Read this, too. It is also the ultimate defenestration of Trump and the GOP.

(21,086 posts)For liberals-well, hard to define just who the heck that is these days, they may say 'well duh'. For the moderates I know-they are done with DT. Too extreme. Or so my life experience tells me. They are more interested in Clinton, in part, b/c she has been endorsed by so many military. The issue that I have found most resonated with the voters I know who find Trump unappealing has been the Gold Star family debacle. That has really rankled people.
It will be interesting to see the after election demographic mop up. It should get the attention of the Dem. party and pundits etc. We have some seriously misinformed, hyper suspicious, extremely upset people in this country. Guns are the symptom but this election is an awareness lesson for all.

(13,899 posts)going to heap praise on HRC. He is not targeting his op-ed at us. He is going after the people, like him, who are so disgusted with Trump that they might hold their noses and vote for HRC. I have known Charlie Fried for years and I know this is probably killing him, but he has put the country above his party and I hope the people on the fence will follow his example.

(4,291 posts)But there are a few who are planning to vote for the Green Party's candidate. Whether it's out of spite -- and I say that as a supporter of Bernie Sanders -- or misinformation, a vote for Jill Stein is a vote for Putin's puppet. Those are the voters we need to persuade to see through their tears and vote for Clinton.
We simply cannot afford a repeat of the Nader Effect!

(28,873 posts).. I'm more worried about down ballot races than I am about Trump.
He's not going to win.
I want Dems to take both the House and the Senate, along with other
state races.
Just the presidency won't do it.

I believe that when a person says they are writing someone in on a ballot that is not running, or votes for a third party knowing that it will aid someone like Donald Trump into the White House, and that their action will hurt the vulnerable of society, it is the epitome of ego-driven, puritopian sanctimony. It is the ultimate display narcissism, self-centeredness and white privilege.

(44,171 posts)It is a great video, Hartmann talks with a Stein voter and lays out the dangers of a Trump Presidency to women, minorities, LGBTQ, the poor,
He also does a scathing critique of Jill Stein.
Of course the voter isn't swayed, but Thom does an amazing job. I think you would really enjoy it.
I'd post it to POST REMOVED, but his mind is made up.

(92,368 posts)Democratic nominee is, and he has reaffirmed that consistently.
Thom Hartmann also frequently interviews people whose positions he doesn't agree with. What is interesting is how Thom is able to keep his cool.
He also uses facts in his arguments
Thanks for the link
As to your point that the voter wasn't swayed, I am not so sure. The listener may actually be considering what Thom has said. Messages like that have a subtle way of working there way into someones thinking

(1,630 posts)even if it takes hearing that from conservative friends. Interesting times indeed when "progressives" rely on the GOP for advice. Trump is having the unintended effect of unifying the country!
