In a scathing editorial published Sunday evening, The Wall Street Journal declared that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trumps window for a turnaround is closing.
The papers editorial board declared the GOP nominee has alienated his party and he isnt running a competent campaign. It points to Trumps poor polling numbers in swing states, as well as his lack of organization and ground game.
Those who sold Mr. Trump to GOP voters as the man who could defeat Hillary Clinton now face a moment of truth, the editorial board wrote, name-checking top Trump allies Newt Gingrich, Chris Christie, Rudy Giuliani and campaign manager Paul Manafort. If they cant get Mr. Trump to change his act by Labor Day, the GOP will have no choice but to write off the nominee as hopeless and focus on salvaging the Senate and House and other down-ballot races, the editorial board continued.
As for Mr. Trump, he needs to stop blaming everyone else and decide if he wants to behave like someone who wants to be Presidentor turn the nomination over to Mike Pence.

(58,785 posts)Even if the press backed off now, information on Trump's mental debility and connections with Putin, leading to the Kremlin's interference in our election, as well as basic indecency, is out there. The very best he could accomplish would be losing by a narrower margin.
As for the WSJ's board trying to blame a pack of big-name political discards like Newtie, Christie and Rudy, and Russian mobster flunkie Manafort, for "selling" Trump to the GOP as electable, asinine. Unless, of course, it works and party leaders, including McConnell and Ryan, come out of this smelling like roses.
