http://bluenationreview.com/trump-is-seeking-a-white-nationalist-awakening-not-the-white-house/The New York Times paints Donald Trump as a lost and confused puppy:
Advisers who once hoped a Pygmalion-like transformation would refashion a crudely effective political showman into a plausible American president now increasingly concede that Mr. Trump may be beyond coaching. In private, Mr. Trumps mood is often sullen and erratic, his associates say. He veers from barking at members of his staff to grumbling about how he was better off following his own instincts during the primaries and suggesting he should not have heeded their calls for change. He broods about his souring relationship with the news media, calling Mr. Manafort several times a day to talk about specific stories. Occasionally, Mr. Trump blows off steam in bursts of boyish exuberance: At the end of a fund-raiser on Long Island last week, he playfully buzzed the crowd twice with his helicopter.
I dont buy it.
Trump knows exactly what hes doing its just not what the media and pundits think it is:

(24,692 posts)"That Trump has ratcheted up his dangerous rhetoric rather than dial it back has confounded the national commentariat and stumped GOP leaders.
Trumps strategy makes perfect sense. Not for a presidential candidate, but for someone seeking to lead an uprising and perhaps a violent one.
Its a classic example of Occams razor: the simplest explanation, the one with the fewest assumptions, is the correct one.
Trumps unwillingness to carry out the basic requirements of a presidential campaign, his refusal to build a national infrastructure, his willful ignorance of issues, his inexplicable campaign schedule these betray not stupidity, but intentionality. He doesnt care. And he doesnt care because hes not after the presidency. Its possible he never was.
Hes after something bigger, something to match his grand ambitions:
His plan is working, not to win the White House, but to change America and the world by triggering a white nationalist uprising and becoming a heroic figurehead in what his followers see as a defining war against inexorable demographic shifts.

(80,708 posts)He's been saying this shit because it's the easiest way to express through the GOP primary process, by murmuring sweet nothings into the bigoted lizard brain of the Republican base.
For him it's about Trump, all Trump, and nothing but the Trump.

(26,501 posts)it seems he's gotten drunk with all the adulation from his rubes. Yet seems incapable of keeping his mouth from connecting with his ass. This race would be a lot closer if he feigned some sanity. But for some reason he keeps sabotaging himself. Maybe other people are right and he never figured he'd get this far and now doesn't know how to get out of it. Or maybe it's simpler and he's simply genuinely confident that he'll have enough angry white people to pull him through.

(80,708 posts)So now he's continuing to be a bloviating ass, because it is who he is- but he is competing for a different and wider slice of the electorate, plus the novelty factor has worn off.
If he keeps it up and loses so badly he severely damages the Republican Party (please, yes) then he may end up being lionized as a hero, but not by the people referenced in this article.

Shit, if he is the catalyst for this miserable turd of a scam known as the republican party to finally die. I'll fucking eat a whole case full of his Sharper Image steaks in celebration. I'm sure there's a few of those sitting around in some Chinese warehouse freezer somewhere

(58,785 posts)does not comprehend a morality or ideology that would encompass anything beyond him. He is astonishingly ignorant because he has a very short attention span and because he is not interested in anything that is not about him. His speech reveals patterns seen in certain types of brain disorders. Psychologists believe people like him usually have only basic consciences that enable them to worry about getting caught doing something wrong but cannot feel guilt. On and on.
Guy, unbelievable as it might seem that such a profoundly disabled person could become the presidential nominee of a major party, it has happened. To the horrified astonishment of people around the planet, including mental health professionals who are watching this play out on TV.
As for his wealth, his father rescued him repeatedly from ruin over the years and arranged loans and deals until Trump's mid 50s, about 17 years ago, at which point he died and obligingly reportedly left another $200-300 M to the family business headed by Trump.

(11,631 posts)There's no there there. There's no underlying strategy beyond tell me how great I am. If he can get that by appealing to racists and bigots then that's just fine by him. But is it some nefarious conspiracy to stir up white nationalism? I don't think so, that's just the lowest common denominator and the only one stupid enough to be duped by such a narcissistic jackass.

(2,056 posts)My theory is that Trump has no interest in being president and never did. He only wants to win. He's such a narcissist that he can't refrain from seeking adoration and he can't handle criticism. The surest way to make him completely implode and fall apart is to continue to criticize him fiercely and not let up for a second because narcissists cannot tolerate even fair criticism without behaving in a way that makes them look completely unhinged.

(35,015 posts)Regardless -he isn't going to win. When he loses he won't be able to handle the humiliation. In true narcissistic form, he will claim the election was rigged, blame everyone else (because he's a victim of course) and throw temper tantrums. His supporters will become inflamed and it could get violent. This alternate reality we're living won't be over when he loses.

Where is the evidence of long-term planning? Of sub-text triumphing over plain meaning? Of choosing short-term tactical defeats for long term positional game advantage?
He's some dumb, mean asshole with a goldfish's ability to think ahead. The racist flock to him. There's nothing more here. Scratch the surface, and you get--the surface.
