2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI hope Trump is pocketing the money
I have no good will for Donald Trump. I didn't wish him Happy Birthday on his 70th birthday (l also didn't wish Fidel Castro such on his 90th, unlike some deluded DUers.)
But it's interesting. You've seen the HuffPost article:
Hillary bought $13.6 million worth, while Donald Trump has bought none. In fact, since garnering the Republican nomination, hes spent $0 on TV. Nonetheless, the Trump campaign spent $63m in July. What happened to it?
Lots of possibilities. Massive waste. False numbers. Money being stored in a secret account, and then BAM! a huge spend a week before the election.
But I think, and I hope, that Donald is just taking the money. And if that's what it is--simple grift, with little cover--then, fuck it, I'm happy for him. Every dollar he got came from a donor who is cynical, racist, or crazy, and I like the idea that he's just pocketing it--there's something poetic in that.
Is that an evil way to think?

(18,672 posts)But he probably got the RNC to pay for them, so there's still the question of where the millions are really going since he's only starting to air these ads.

(19,114 posts)How do you spend $63 Million without buying a single ad? Without ads you would think you'd spend a fraction of that. And he has very little in the way of a ground game.
Where is the money going?
He is funneling it to Trump owned businesses at ridiculous rates.

Trump says a lot of stuff. Most if it is shit and lies.
I would not be surprised to discover hs repaid himself.

Don the Con is just being who is he is: A con man. and he's conning the marks for all they are worth.

(37,540 posts)This is how the pro's grift. To be self identifying as a Republican today means, "I am a moron, take advantage of me."
