2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBest defense I've seen regarding the Clinton Foundation
Republicans don't care that millions of people will die if they close the Clinton Foundation. I really don't want to hear another word from these hypocrites that want to ban abortion but the turn around and let kids die for political expediancy

(1,907 posts)I hope he will come back with more of the things the charity and initiatives have done. Especially the initiatives, most of these are basic helping hand things. That will make long term gains in the quality of life.
See the Global initiatives here.

(182,868 posts)He was nowhere when they picked him up 25+ years ago. I think he was the inspiration for Tobey on "The West Wing". Carville was the "hell no! Throw it back in their damn face!" guy in the room.

(5,648 posts)He still has that talent to get right to the heart of the matter in no uncertain terms.
And to those say I look him, I'm still better looking.

In reality, the Clinton Foundation, to which the Clintons have donated millions of dollars, has spent years doing work that benefits people all across the globe.
In total, the organization has helped over 400 million people in nearly 200 countries, whether by providing easier access to life-saving HIV/AIDS drugs or helping children in America have healthier food options at school.

(34,137 posts)Who is going to be more beholden to foreign interests? Someone who is NOT on the board of a non-profit dedicated to good works all over the world and who does not make a penny off anything that charity does?
Or someone who owes hundreds of millions of dollars to foreign interests who could call their loans at any moment which would collapse his house of cards and show him up for the fraud that he really is?

(3,284 posts)I keep hearing pundits saying, "But it's about the appearance of something underhanded, which looks bad politically." They're essentially saying, who cares if more lives are being saved, perception is what's really important. Do they even hear themselves???

(64 posts)The War Room is an Oldie but Goodie must see movie from the 1992 Bill Clinton campaign.
Here 2 great clips of Carville from that movie:

(58,785 posts)What's the difference between having a foundation placed into a trust run by others during a period of office and a corporation or other personal business? Most of our high public officials own all or part of businesses that continue functioning while they are in office. They often held high positions in those businesses (Cheney of course leaps to mind, but he's only one of a huge number).
The main argument against the CF is that it will be accepting donations from people who might be trying to curry favor while HRC is president.
Corporations make deals that may be attempts to curry favor while their owners are in office.
If the Clintons are supposed to entirely divest the CF to others, why shouldn't we require all our officials to sell their ownership in businesses if they are going to run for public office?
We're not going to, of course, and I know what to think of these current attempts to fix the media's dissonance problem by separating the bad Clintons from their own good works.
Btw, there was something wrong with James's speech, and he was drooling from the left corner of his mouth. Did he just have dental work, some kind of neuralgia in his face, or a stroke? I did a quick google on stroke and am happy to have found nothing.
