Wingers upset over Huma Abedin

Facebook's trending page has a new "controversy" about Huma Abedin, which has the RW media up in arms. I won't link to any here.

The New York Post claims she worked at a "radical Muslim journal" for years (the Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs, which doesn't sound radical to me). She was assistant editor under her mother, who remains editor-in-chief. During that time, the journal published pieces diverging from Clinton's stance on women's rights and other issues. The publication was critical of Hillary's 1995 speech in Beijing, for instance.

The Clinton campaign's response to the article was that while Huma was listed on the masthead, she had no formal role with the publication.

I'm posting this NOT to push the story, but to prepare DUers who might be blindsided. I think the story is overblown; these are not Huma's opinions as far as I know. Even if they were, Huma does not seem to have influenced Clinton's stance on any issues towards a traditional Islamic viewpoint to any noticeable extent. But Facebook users on the right seem to think it's the end of the world.

If anyone has been following this story, I would appreciate your input and suggestions for countering the message from the right.

17. I think maybe she might be a liability to Clinton if anybody other than Trump was running.

Somebody like Karl Rove might be able to make her look very sinister although I don't think there's much to the story.

Trump is such a buffoon he won't have the finesse to truly weaponize the story.
