GOP Fears Its Future in the West

“Republicans in Western states fear that Donald Trump could imperil their party for years to come in the country’s fastest-growing region as he repels a generation of Hispanics, Asians and younger voters who have been altering the electoral map,” the New York Times reports.

“Mr. Trump, with his insult-laden, culturally insensitive style of campaigning, is providing fuel for the demographic trends that are already reshaping the political composition of this once-heavily Republican territory. And now many Republicans are contemplating the possibility that states like Colorado or Nevada could soon become the next California: once competitive but now unwinnable in presidential contests.”

And this from Arizona: “Recent polls show Hillary Clinton is close to tying Mr. Trump here. And her campaign has responded by teaming up with local Democrats on a statewide get-out-the-vote operation, which has grown to 160 staff members across 20 offices.”

It's mass suicide by a subculture that has gone on for far too long.
[hr][font color="blue"][center]Birds are territorial creatures.
The lyrics to the songbird's melodious trill go something like this:
"Stay out of my territory or I'll PECK YOUR GODDAMNED EYES OUT!"

have done is the biggest reason I can think of that the party might end up having to reform as a genuinely new one under new leadership, inclusive of as many conservative Hispanic and other minorities as will join them--waving goodbye to intractable white supremacists who won't accept that. With that they could also attempt to once again become electable in California.

Not necessarily soon, though. Guessing they'll make some cosmetic changes and count on their traditional advantages to carry them in 2018.

I read that, without the trumpsters assistance, 2020 had been believed the earliest the Democrats could hope that changing voter demographics would give them sufficient advantage to defeat the conservatives substantially in anything but the presidency. But if minorities turn out in 2016 and 2018 that will have changed.

I've known nice people from these areas but they were hardcore conservatives. I don't get it.
