2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAnyone who insists that MORNING JOE is "in the tank" for Trump should be watching this morning...
...they actually spent a half hour debating whether Trump's a psychopath, a sociopath, or just a narcissist.

MoJo is ripping him to shreds on his history of tweets. His total lack of empathy. It's brutal (and true).

You dont want me to do the oneswith deportation? Brzezinski said.
After some cross-talk, co-host Joe Scarborough said, "We really have to get you some questions."
Thats right, nothing too hard Mika," Trump interjected.
"Okay," Brzezinski said.

(56,828 posts)but, somebody posted that we should tell Trump he won the election, and then set him up in a fake White House and film it as a reality show... meanwhile, Clinton is in the real world and has to deal with real world problems in the real White House.

(1,907 posts)Which way is the wind blowing today. They do run some stuff against dipshit, but listen to joe the morning joke. He will sit and immediately afterward talk about what dipshit needs to do to turn it around. Today he did seem pessimistic about it. But wait till tomorrow or the day after. He "pivots" as many times as dipshit donnie does.

(10,252 posts)does the "what does Trump need to do to get better polls?" bit. I want to yell, "stop helping Trump!" I stopped watching MJ for the longest time, and only started watching again, when they eviscerated Trump every morning. I like watching "regular republicans" come on and hem and haw and prevaricate, as they skirm about their tepid support of Trump.

(11,746 posts)I thought she was ready to cryx and the whole panel got quiet when she talked about how it was time to go psychological on Trump. Joe softened his voice.
I thought she might have peed her pants or something.

(61,695 posts)I've been watching pretty consistently too, and I think they both see trump as being too unstable, blowing with the wind, and dangerous to be president. I think they've done a decent job of working him over. I'm glad they hammered on trump's mental health today, though. I think they both want to expose him as someone who didn't expect to be in this position, but is too narcissistic to not want to win, and to hell with what the country needs.
They hammer on Clinton because their is so much stuff out there to latch onto, whether true or false. They are going to talk about it, about her. But I think they treated her pretty respectfully last Friday when they interviewed her. They want access after she's elected.
I hate it when Joe calls trump a democrat. Nothing in trump's platform is a position of the Democratic Party, from what I've seen.

(5,330 posts)The Don really is the ultimate Con Man.
Make no mistake about it, he doesn't believe half the crazy right-wing shit he says, he's simply playing to his audience to boost his brand and sell more books, and pump as much campaign money into his personal interests by fleecing GOP donors. It's all a big game to him. He already admitted he's looking forward to losing and getting back to making far more money doing other things.
I mean, just look at all those evangelicals he swooned by waving "his favorite book, the Bible" around that he's obviously never read a day in his life, quoting a little "Two Corinthians" for effect.
He's playing them all for fools.
Ilsa
(61,695 posts)if he would believe in any of that any more or embrace it as easily as he would eat KFC. I don't trust anything he has said in the distant or near past.
That being said, if he's just playing all of them for fools, I'll be delighted.
Thanks for the clip!

(10,252 posts)They are appalled at Trump's stupidity, confused immigration twists and turns, and dog whistle racial bigotry. Calling frequently for "regular Republicans" to disassociate from Trump. When they aren't dissing Trump is back to Clinton's emails. lol

(14,566 posts)In the primary the propped him up with Scab's never ending high mighty"WE TOLD YOU HE WAS A SERIOUS THREAT TO WIN THE NOMINATION" bullshit.
But, the broke hard against him right after the conventions.
The thing is:
1) In regard to trump, it is the usual thing all media people do, rooting FOR the GOP. They do in this twisted thing of how they need to come out against him, but the same frame exists for them and the media at large whenever the republican fuck up this bad, they get all emotional and desperately root for the grand old party. You don't see this shit EVER for the the democratic party, it is always the "they are going to overplay their cards" and shit like that.
2) Their visible concern for the GOP over trump is matched in opposite fashion by their intense rage when they go e-mail or clinton foundation on Hillary. There is a palpable difference, they are much softer in their tone with the GOP and Trump, much harsher and caustic in berating Hillary.
