2. HERE IN WI - they are sending reminders to voters whose registrations have expired AND who have

drivers licenses or state issued ID. They are NOT sending reminders to voters who registrations have expired but DONT have licenses/IDS.

Sigh. Voter suppression takes many forms and knows no bounds. Imagine if we could apply this clever conniving,.... and no small amount of money .... to something good - like developing totally clean energy and eliminating green house gasses.

3. "They" being the state of Wisconsin?

Local county registrars? Some of Scott Walker's ilk who are trying to make sure their likely voters make it to the polls and not others?

And Wisconsin voter registrations expire after a certain amount of time? Now I know in many states - if not all - voters are removed from the rolls if they haven't voted in a number of consecutive elections, but I've never heard of a state with a built-in end date to voter eligibility.

I firmly believe that there is a segment of Trump supporters who will do just about anything to sway the vote in their favor, and we should be watching them closely. However, after some of the accusations he threw around during this year's primaries - including the claim that California didn't count a large percentage of its votes - I have a harder time accepting anything Palast says without further corroboration.

14. Why would your voter registration ever expire?

This has to be weird Wisconsin thing or something. In Maine, you register once and then never again unless you move. Even then, just moving around within Maine I think some people don't bother updating their voter registration and that is fine unless they want to do absentee voting by mail. Can always register on election day here too.

they used to send postcards to last known address reminding them. NOW, under our far right republican overlords, they are sending these reminders ONLY TO those with drivers licenses & state IDS - ie would tend to skew favoring wealthier, whiter voters.

I was hoping that the info would prompt people to verify their voter info was OK and they were in face authorized to vote where they thought their precinct is.

Maybe your post will prod people into action. I sure hope so.

7. I don't know what to believe from Palast anymore -- he told some whoppers during the primaries.

Especially about the vote counting in California. For example, he repeatedly said that provisional votes would be discarded without counting -- which might be true in some states but was not at all true in California. The SoS's office reported their ongoing vote counting and they verified and counted all their provisional votes.

getting your birth certificate and photo IDs can take more time that people think. It can cost a little too.
