2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMy wife and I went to the MN State Fair
this morning. We walked by the Donald Trump booth there. Standing on the sidewalk in front of it was a group of about a dozen people wearing t-shirts that said, "We Have Brains and We Vote!," carrying signs about rights for people with disabilities. The Trump booth folks did not look very happy about that, and the group was handing out flyers.
Sorry, Donny. Minnesota doesn't like you very much...

(146,335 posts)We stopped and talked to one of the people, and took their flyer. The Trumpsters were all standing there glaring at these folks. They weren't blocking access in any way, but there they were, and more people were talking to them than going into the Trump booth.
Good for them, I say! First Amendment rights belong to everyone.

Unfortunately, directly across from the Dems was a huge Baptist church booth promoting creationism.

(146,335 posts)I did watch Governor Dayton speak about water quality an other conservation issues at the DNR fish pond. I stopped in at Any Klobuchar's booth though briefly. Both she and Al Franken have been at the fair a lot.

(11,651 posts)They were cardboard of course. So I texted it to my mom under the title "look who we met at the state fair." She was so excited and started firing all these questions about the meeting. I told her we were just as shocked as anyone when we came across them together in the dairy goat barn...
BTW did you see Garrison's last show there?

(5,902 posts)Reminds me of the Bush-Cheney booth at UCI in '04. People would walk by and pick up flyers so they could scrunch them up and throw it back at them. The two cross-eyed robots behind the table looked befuddled.
