Jacob Monty, a member of Trumps National Hispanic Advisory Council, has resigned, and Alfonso Aguilar, the president of the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles, said in an interview that he is inclined to pull his support.
I was a strong supporter of Donald Trump when I believed he was going to address the immigration problem realistically and compassionately, said Monty, a Houston attorney who has aggressively made the Latino case for Trump. What I heard today was not realistic and not compassionate.
He withdrew from the board following Trumps speech in Phoenix, which was heavy on calls for border security and emphasized that all immigrants in the country illegally were subject to deportation.
When we met earlier in August he was going to approach this issue with a realistic plan, a compassionate plan, with a plan that was not disruptive to the immigrants that were here that were not lawbreakers, said Monty, one of the Latino leaders who met with the candidate at Trump Tower recently, a gathering at which Trump reportedly softened his tone toward undocumented immigrants already in the country. He didnt deliver any of that.
Its so disappointing because we feel we took a chance, a very risky chance, Aguilar said. We decided to make a big U-turn to see if we could make him change. We thought we were moving in the right direction were disappointed. We feel misled.

The republiKKKans DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU, NEVER HAVE, AND NEVER WILL. Stop being such gullible, unrealistic fools. Tour stubborn ignorance is dragging this country down! Enough already.

republi-CONS. THEY DON'T WANT TO HELP YOU. They DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU, NEVER have, and NEVER will. They DON'T WANT TO HELP YOU. That's their bedrock "philosophy." They don't believe in it. They don't believe in government. They don't believe in a larger entity (like - GOVERNMENT) that is there to serve the greater good. They don't believe in it. They're the "sucks to be you. You're on your own. Lotsa luck, chumps" crowd. Not a bit interested.
And, mind you, these are the same folks who wrap themselves around the Cross of Christ and pontificate up the ting-yang about how "Christian" they are. They're not interested in loving thy neighbor as thyself. They don't give a damn about the whole "my brother's keeper" thing. They're the Sucks-To-Be-You crowd. They're the IGMFU crowd. "I Got Mine, F-U."
The electorate are such gullible fools.
Maybe if we got the election cycle down to 6 weeks instead if 18 months, we might concentrate on the reality and less on the smoke and mirrors.

(81,402 posts)Seriously. Who did they think they were climbing into bed with, in the first place?
Seems like a classic case of trying VERY hard to fool oneself into thinking Beelzebub is the Archangel Gabriel. Makes me think of that fable about the scorpion needing to cross the river, and sweet-talking the fox into giving it a piggyback ride across the water. "Don't worry, says the scorpion! I won't sting you!" The fox isn't sure, justifiably fearing for its safety, but the scorpion soothes - "well, why would I? It'd mean I'd drown, too." The fox gives in, throws caution to the wind, and decides to take "a chance. A very risky chance." And guess what happens? Yep, sure enough, let Scorpion be Scorpion! What the hell DID you expect, anyway? Stings the fox about halfway across the river, and as they're both, indeed, drowning, the fox asks - "WHY?" and the scorpion responds - "because I'm a scorpion. That's what I do."
We cannot afford to risk giving Donald Trump a ride across the proverbial river on our backs. I don't know what on earth these "Latino surrogates" were thinking. All they do is prove themselves to be chumps. They swallowed the poison, knowing it was poison, but hoping in vain that it might be chocolate (or maybe at least chocolate-flavored). Seriously, what on earth did they expect?
"Extreme vetting! I call it extreme vetting!" Well, let's not forget, he hasn't forgotten about the torture option. He's already said he's fine with it and would willingly indulge... Hey, why stop with "terrorists"?

The only thing that Trump is consistent about is whatever he feels will benefit himself at that specific point of time. Period. No thought or consideration is ever given to formulating long term or short term strategies. It is literally a minute by minute thing. I think one of the political cartoons posted in another thread showed it the best -
