One of California's best-known Republicans is backing Democrat Loretta Sanchez for Senate. Here's why

Republican Rep. Darrell Issa is supporting his colleague Rep. Loretta Sanchez in this fall’s Senate race, a contest that pits two Democrats against each other and gives GOP voters no obvious choice.

The two appeared together in Issa’s congressional district this week, giving Sanchez an opportunity to publicize her expertise on national defense in a part of the state where she needs to do well with Democrats, Republicans and independents alike if she hopes to overtake her rival, Atty. Gen. Kamala Harris.

For Issa, the bipartisan event may help soften his image as congressional Republican leadership’s attack dog on the Obama administration.

He said that despite their differences on most issues facing the nation, he respects Sanchez’s knowledge of military and world affairs and they both support efforts to keep the country safe.

in the California Primary than Loretta Sanchez, which tells me that Issa has reason to be worried about her. Harris is in her 2nd term as California's Attorney General which means that she has state wide appeal and is a rising star in California state politics and could very easily be the next Senator from California. I don't trust Issa, and I don't trust Sanchez's motives for teaming up with him at an event in his district. Darrell Issa is no better than Trey Gowdy when it comes to making up crap to investigate Democrats. Shame on Sanchez for getting into bed with Issa. He's a much slicker politician than she is and a multimillionaire. She'll rue the day she decided to team up with him. He means her no good.

President Obama, Vice Pres. Biden, Barbara Boxer, Governor Jerry Brown, Gavin Newsom, California Teachers Assoc, dozens of other labor unions, Sierra Club, etc. etc. etc. Sanchez has the endorsement of one of the slimiest Republicans in the state of California. Not a good look, Rep. Sanchez. Wouldn't be surprised if Kamala Harris uses that on some targeted mailers this fall.

To me it takes guts to meet real people on their commute to work face to face. She got my vote because she had courage to meet voters.

Definitely think Californians should elect Kamala Harris. Issa is a fraud, a crook, and a downright nasty guy. No Democrat should ever prop his career up because all he's planning to do is stab you in the back.
