Having read through the Mother Jones Excerpts from the FBI's Report on Hillary's email,

I'd like to provide one explanation for why Hillary may have used 8 Blackberries during her tenure as SoS.

The Mother Jones excerpts mentioned about not being able to bring Blackberries into SCIFs and that Hillary could not bring one into her normal workplace because it was a SCIF so she had to store it in another location which was deemed acceptable. This would also have been true as she visited other secure places outside of her own workplace. My guess is that Hillary visited a lot of other secure places outside of her own workplace where she might have had to leave her Blackberry outside. As a woman who went to many meetings at locations outside of my own secure workplace, we would have to leave our cell phones outside. Some places provided little storage boxes where you could secure your phone outside the meeting room, usually with a combo lock on it. Sometimes there were enough to go around for everyone attending the meeting; sometimes there were not. Sometimes the area was used by others besides those who attended the meetings. As a woman who carried a purse, which would have been the normal place for my cell phone, I sometimes had to leave my phone outside a conference room. And I admit that on occasion, I forgot to retrieve my cell phone when the meeting was over. The reasons varied, but the most common reason was, I simply forgot it. When the meeting is over, everyone is gathered around the area where we stored the cell phones somewhere outside the meeting. Because of my position, I was always one of the last to leave, because I was always usually involved in discussions which only involved a few of the attendees and we stayed behind. Men usually only carry their phone and usually in their pocket so they normally don't forget theirs or miss it when they don't have it on them. I had a purse with me almost always, which normally was where I kept my cell phone, except when I was in a secure location, plus I always had agenda items/notes for the meeting, or information that I was passing on to someone whom I would have been expecting to see at the meeting, so I'd likely have a briefcase as well.

So after a lengthy meeting, you're hurrying to get out of there or maybe heading for the restroom and you forget to retrieve the cell phone. There were times when I didn't remember my phone until I was back at my workplace reaching in my purse to remove my cellphone to make sure I leave it outside the secure location, or I was at home, and looking to pull my phone out of my purse to place it on my charging station, only to discover I had left it behind. It happened more often than I care to remember. If it happened and I was 5-15 minutes away, I turned around and went back. If I was at home when the discovery was made, I retrieved it the next day. My guess is that Hillary had so many phones, because she probably left them behind as has happened to me. My guess is that if she left one behind one day, she had others available she could use in the interim, or she had a driver who could retrieve it, or turn the vehicle around. Hers were work issued. She could substitute one for another if she forgot one, until it could be retrieved. Mine was my personal phone. If I misplaced it, I'd be responsible for replacing it, therefore, I needed to retrieve it as soon as possible.

8 phones and 13 devices, scandalous, but who the hell cares? I have no trouble imagining scenarios that would make such acquisitions reasonable, and even if she paid top dollar for the latest it's not like she was collecting vehicles. Tech changes fast and by all appearances she kept on top of it. And what other public servant has had to spend four years defending their use of a phone?

to defend pretty much everything she has ever said or done over the past 25 years? I think the public has just gotten used to Hillary bashing and just doesn't question how absurd it is anymore.

So true. It's part of the background. I don't think there's much she can really do about it either except keep on doing what she's doing. She tried playing their game in the Senate and look how that turned out. People wonder why she doesn't have more defenders but all you have to do is look what happened to Boxer and DWS to realize it's a dangerous business that basically falls to Bill and Chelsea. Barack and Michelle are great, so are the rest, and they help when they can, but nobody wants to get eviscerated.

I don't think there is much she can do about it. No matter what she says or does, she will be attacked.

it said, she sometimes would use a phone for a few days and didn't like it. She would go back to using her old phone. I believe that would account a few phones.

Clinton was referring to as "using 2 devices" was a phone issued to her would only be capable of emailing .gov addy. She would have needed to carry 2 phones in order to contact everyone she needed to. Not as howdy gowdy stated she used only 1 device as SoS, she used 1 device at a time.

Blackberries were the only type phones issued by the Govt when I was there, and I only left within the last year. I knew nobody outside of work, in recent years who had a Blackberry, but government employees who I worked with.

But if my office had 'extra' phones on hand, I would assume that the State Dept had extras on hand as well. So if as I suggested she left her usual phone somewhere, she could just get another one from whomever issued phones. The Excerpt mentioned something about destroying Sim cards after changing phones, so I assumed, (rightly or wrongly) that something was going on there where people are swapping out Sim cards on a more frequent basis than your average Joe does. I was simply trying to offer up a rational explanation as to why one would be changing phones frequently and destroying Sim cards. I'm not a clucks, but I have forgotten my phone on occasion because of following the rules and not being able to take your cell phone anywhere and everywhere you go, and I'm younger than Clinton. So that was the first thing to come to my mind when I read about her using at least 8 Blackberries.

Wasn't as comfortable with them. That would explain some of it. Plus, that many phones in 4 years isn't that ridiculous if she traded out the ones she didn't like and if she ever started to have issues with them. You & I may be able to have ours serviced and go without a phone for a time, but that wouldn't have been the case with her. I'm sure she was given a new phone the minute she had issues with one. Plus, they're freaking Blackberries. Not the best track record when it comes to reliability.

And wasn't it more like 13 devices she used? Also, when they say she only used one device at one time, they mean that literally. She wouldn't pick up one at one place for a few hours or a day, drop that, and then pick up another at another location. If for some reason she left without a phone - which I doubt ever happened - I'm sure an aid would make sure it was procured.
