Bombshell: Powell Advised Clinton to Avoid State Dept Servers (Wall Street Journal)

Political Wire:

Newly-disclosed emails show that former Secretary of State Colin Powell told Hillary Clinton at the start of her tenure at the State Department that he used a personal computer to conduct government business, and took steps to avoid “going through the State Department servers,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“The new emails appear to show Mr. Powell suggesting he intentionally conducted work-related emails with foreign leaders and State Department officials using a personal computer or the personal accounts of government staffers.”

Tl;dr:

Clinton: "How can I keep my blackberry, Colin?"

Powell: "Forget about the blackberry, here is how I used a non-State email to get around all of that stuff"

Republican Overreach 101: It always rebounds back and is much much worse i.e. Trump bribing Bondi, the guy that headed the anti-clinton house panel having a secret family etc.

He's the schmuck who had a second family going at the same time he was playing Mr. High & Mighty Moralist during the Bill Clinton Monica persecution.

But Burton was only one of 'em. EVERY ONE of Bill Clinton's loudest accusers had the same mud on their reputations, dirt in their baggage, and egg on their faces. And it was TYPICAL to find a trail of broken marriages (their own AND other people's), AND out-of-wedlock babies being born, AND other assorted lives destroyed. Nothing like that EVER resulted from anything they tried to pin on Bill Clinton. Burton, Newt Gingrich, Bob Livingston, Henry Hyde... there was a bunch of 'em.

It's not as though the very fact that Powell made the suggestion would have been classified information.

This goes to a pattern she has-to help keep false accusations against herself alive for excessively long periods of time, when she could always discredited and disproved those accusations at the start by immediately releasing exonerating evidence like this.

In every single case in which the right went after her, she could have stopped them on day one just by disclosing her innocence. What good did it ever do for her or for this party for her to refuse to do that?

When people start a new job, the IT department is supposed to set and enforce computer/email policy. It's as if they were hired, issued state department email addresses, and then (literally) left to their own devices. In college, you get a .edu email address, but depending on which university you go to, the email could be almost like a "passport" for access to everything or it could end up being a worthless afterthought. I suspect that prior to the GOP's email/benghazi witch hunt, the email set up for the state department was more of an afterthought. Not Powell's fault. Not Clinton's fault. Neither one of them are tech gurus. If anything, the IT department should be on trial.
