Trump insists he can win New York

Donald Trump renewed his vow Wednesday evening to compete and ultimately win in New York, a state that has not voted Republican in a presidential election since 1984.

“Just so you understand, we are going to play New York. You know, we’re not just doing this for fun. We’re going to play New York,” Trump told the New York Conservative Party at its convention Wednesday evening.

“We are going to play so hard and win. We are going to win this state,” he added as he wrapped up his speech. “It’s going to shock people, and by the way, you know if we win this state, it’s over. We win, OK? We win.”

Despite his promises to win the state, polls show Trump struggling in New York. The Real Clear Politics polling average for the state shows Hillary Clinton with a 19.3 percentage point lead over Trump.

There's no way his handlers are on board with wasting money in New York, but I'm glad to see him waste his money.

NY gets pretty lucky during Presidential elections. It's so not a swing state, we miss a boatload of the crap that comes out during elections. It's simply too expensive to contest a true blue state. I don't think he stands a chance at any of the 3 states in the tri-state area. To be perfectly honest, I don't know one person - not one- republican or democrat - that is voting for don the con. We know him best and our opinion aint good. Remember the only country he lost in NY during the primary was his home county - Manhattan (called NY county).

I doubt Trump will be competitive here but I would be happy to see him waste money on it. And I wouldn't mind if he scared Hillary into treating the state like more than just an ATM. This is not a criticism of Hillary per se - it's a criticism of the system. Obama did the same thing and so has every Democratic presidential candidate since at least Bill Clinton.
