Bar Stools ... like OMG!!

I don't know how tall Hillary is, and when I googled it there were so many conflicting quotes I couldn't use any. I do know that when she backed up to the bar stool her tush cleared the edge of the seat with a foot on the floor. She also just took many questions standing.

If she was to actually sit on the stool her feet would not reach the ground. Think about this for a minute. Now imagine how distracting this would be for a public forum. I was FURIOUS! Who let this happen???

Of course Donald the Clown sat easily and comfortably on the stool with his feet planted firmly on the ground.

A stool is a masculine seat, not designed for shorter frames. While in a private setting you can sit back and keep your feet on the rung, that isn't a good visual for TV.

Hillary handled it like the pro she is. Kudos!

Fuck all the rest of them.

1. Thank you. I'm wondering if that was deliberate. Why on earth wouldn't they have given them

regular chairs to sit in?

It was as if they deliberately wanted the candidates to feel uncomfortable -- to be on the "hot seat." But it would have been much worse for the candidate whose feet were left dangling.

I'm 5'6" and she seemed a few inches shorter. I'm guessing she's about 5'4". The bar stool observation is totally right on. That's outrageous that she was put to such disadvantage.

9. They might consider it for the actual debate with DTs, because she gets treated stupidly....

...with no consideration for her size and gender.

That business about her returning "late" from the break at the Dem debate during the primary was atrocious -- the ladies' restroom was MUCH farther away than the men's, there was a line, etc etc. So the men got back before she did, and the moderators, instead of going to another commercial, chose to snark about Hill being tardy. Which left an opening for Trump to say she was "disgusting," har-de-har.

It's OKAY to make arrangements for yourself that make sense, or better yet have your staff do it. My Senator, Barbara Boxer, is so short that she is dwarfed by standard podiums. She travels with a box to stand on, which her staff makes sure to place behind the podium when she makes a speech.

I also figured she's about 5'4" -- my height. She handled it well, though -- chose to be active to answer certain questions by standing up and moving around. I felt like she took charge of her situation.

15. Yes she did but

it placed her in some awkward un-natural looking stances and, as we all know, perception is important. She handled it with grace but it must have been unsettling.

candidate wins 58% of presidential elections. That was deliberate. It was a way to make her appear as a child who's feet can't touch the ground when they sit.

I am barely 5'4" and that is my pet peeve when I want to sit at a bar. It is not comfortable and I am always squirming. That is the appearance that they wanted to portray....Hillary squirming, it would fit into their narrative. With trumpster fire sitting comfortable and relaxed.

Fuck them.

16. The decision to use stools was a subtle, but oft repeated, sexist slight to women.

Women are shorter than men, this shouldn't be too startling for most people to grasp. Its incredibly awkward, if not demeaning, for any woman to clamber up on a high bar stool. It makes us look like a toddler trying to sit a an adult sized chair.

First, you have to tilt and shimmy one butt cheek up on the edge of the seat. Now that you have gained traction, you must twist around, and in the same motion, get one leg up and a foot braced against the crossbar on the stool, hooking the heel of your shoe over the bar if necessary for increased leverage. Now you need to lean backward, take a firm hold on the seat with each hand, brace both feet against the crossbar on the stool and then lift your whole body weight up while pushing backward. Then you can slide your butt all the way into the seat, and hope that your legs aren't left dangling in midair... like a little kid.

Important note to the wardrobe keepers of female politicians: Pantsuits. A woman in a dress, sitting on a stool, does not make for a flattering photo op.

IMHO, Hillary is feisty and I think her having had women like Barbara Mikulski as a mentor, means that eventually she'll get to the stage in life where she doesn't give a shit what people think and what silly barriers people erect against you (because certainly Barbara didn't)!
