2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMatt Lauer gave the debate win to Trump
Matt Lauer made Trump the winner of the debate. His questions to Clinton made her look defensive compared to his questions to Trump. Trump could weasel and redirect his answers because Lauer asked softball, broad, general questions to Trump with no specific follow up.
Lauer tried to nail Clinton with follow up after follow up on the same question even after she gave her complete answer. I do not understand what Lauer thought he was accomplishing.
Lauer made Trump look good.

(68,586 posts)He was the male version of Sarah Palin...word salad. Even the ass kissing media could not make him look good...and certainly not qualified to be commander in chief...a failed businessman, a liar and a conman.

But he's got plans. And plans to make plans.

Sure, Lauer TRIED to nail Clinton, but she handled with grace and professionalism.
And he didn't press Trump on obvious lies, either, but Trump STILL managed to dig himself into a hole.
He expressed his admiration for an authoritarian, insulted the entire high command of the military, and lied, lied, lied. And somehow it was "tie," or Trump even "won"? I don't fucking think so.
