2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary's Press Conference was masterful
What a smart lady! Smart to hold a press conference right after last night's very disappointing and unbalanced forum. Smart to follow-up on Trump's stupid comments last night. Smart to as what Reagan would say about Trump's admiration for Putin. Smart to refuse to comment on her security briefings. Smartest of all - dissing Trump's statement that our generals have been "reduced to rubble." Can't wait to see the rubble ad that comes out. I hope HRC's press conference keeps the talking heads busy and is front and center throughout the week-end.

(1,353 posts)Wonder if this was calculated, as to just pouring it all on these last 2 months? Trump should be buried after last night's event but of course he will continue... Seems the media this morning is having a hard time defending anything he said and she's underscoring that ten fold!!
Would LOVE for some top GOP to disavow their support...his dissing of the military is beyond the pale...

(58,666 posts)Trump doesn't really have a campaign. All of the "outsider" crap works on the rubes, but there is still a real campaign to be run, and you can't do that with tweets and insults.
Hillary has some of the best campaigners in recent history on her team. This could, and should get ugly for Trump and all Repubs.

(10,252 posts)I'd like to see a "got stiffed" ad with 5 or 6 small business people, whom Trump cheated. An ad about fair wages with 5 or 6 waiters, bartenders, waitresses, who weren't paid overtime for serving at his events. And of course 5 or 6 disgruntled Trump U folks, who were conned. And how about some casino investors, who were left holding the bag, while Trump walzted away with a bundle of $$$$?

That was a thing of beauty on her part!!

(9,148 posts)From Hillary's Press Conference to Sen Boxer to their panel..Trump is being call for all the astonishing disrespectful statements he made last night.
And Trump's spokesmodel Boris E is on sounding like a total "he said/she said" 9 yr old boy.
He's not helping anything...making a damn fool of himself.
Good.

I don't think he'll be on TV a lot more if he can't improve his deception skills.

(10,252 posts)he constantly interrupts and talks over. Obviously something he learned from Trump. Producers should cut his mic off, when he does that.

(45,003 posts)It's like all these rightwing shills go to the same media training academy.
They obviously didn't get to the lesson that points out these
gimmicks only work if people don't notice you're doing it.
They look like clumsy agit-propbots.

(60,074 posts)That one tactic poisoned the well. Polite discourse became impossible, because the right found they can shut down other ideas by shouting them down.

(8,203 posts)as I rewind the presser a bit - I was taken by Andrea Mitchell standing in front of the camera near the end - actually after "one more question" - in Hillary's face. I didn't hear the question (my first reason for the rewind), but I sure loved when Hillary took the opportunity to laugh in Andrea's face - ...and that I say "thank you" - well done Madam President!

(10,252 posts)As a Buddhist, I can assure you that 30% to 40% of voters are motivated by the 3 poisons: Greed, ignorance, and anger/hatred. Plus the Republican party is a vast criminal enterprise that agitates the 3 poisons in people to accumulate money (greed) and power. That's why we have to band together and tell the truth about what's going on in our society. Never get discouraged by the RWers intransigence to open their minds. Not likely, but certainly possible for some. Teach your children well.

Hillary will surprise a lot of people if she can continue the POLITICAL ENERGY
into October and November. Energy is the hardest thing to fathom, maintain,
formulate, let alone generate.
She is so intelligent. May her legend grow!

(23,105 posts)They absolutely are allergic to saying anything at all good about her. I listened to Morning Schmoe for about 30 min. and it wasn't mentioned once, it was ofen that asshole halperin complaining about HRC's emails. Mika at least, correctly noted that drumpf showed his utter inability to understand the military and veterans issues as well as his disdain for it all. Lauer aided and abetted this. Most everyone agreed that Drumpf looked and sounded like a jerk and was the opposite of presidential. Steal Iraq's oil - seriously? OMG!!!!

(47,501 posts)She was wise not to over expose herself (like Trump) before Labor Day. People are more inclined to pay attention. I think she is being very strategic and it is effective.
