Here is your laugh of the day! There was a massive surge of online searches for the definition of deplorable after Hillary Clinton used the word to describe some Trump supporters:
To just be grossly generalistic, you can put half of Trump supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it.
People were spitting mad. I mean, gosh darn it, how dare she wait, what does that word mean? A lot of people had to look it up:
Donald Trump is trying to capitalize on Hillary Clinton calling half of his supporters deplorable," but according to Merriam-Webster, some people had to find out what the term meant first.
The online dictionary reports that searches of the word deplorable increased by nearly 50,000% over the weekend

Of course there is no way to be certain Trump supporters were the ones looking up the meaning of the word. Lets just call it an educated guess.

(45,014 posts)4. Here's a big clue as to who's searching...
there were even more searches for DEPLOREBLE and DEPLORIBLE
(just kidding, but hey, it's probably true)
diplorible and daplorible and on and on.
before the internets i was stumped about the spelling of "bureaucracy," which was a word i intended to use in a paper for school. my guesses were so far off i could not find the word in the dictionary. i had to find a newspaper and pore over it before i found an occurrence of the word. that was frustrating.

somewhat deplorable (how many people did not know what the word means?!), but funny. i actually laughed.
in fairness i look up words all the time, sometimes just to be sure i'm using it correctly and sometimes because i just don't know what it means!
