Newsweek reporting Trump scandal!!!

Deep ties w global financiers foreign politicians and even criminals.

A web of contractual entanglement that could not be canceled

Every foreign policy decision would have a conflict of interest

His business interests would constantly jeopardize the US

Edited to add: Rachel Maddow was literally just handed this - seemed to be reading it for the first time herself just now! Wow- she had thirty minutes, hope she can delve into this!!!

The Vice Presidential nominee is exactly that: the nominee for the office of Vice President. Pence is not the automatic successor to the Presidential nominee and he would have to further complicate matters by declining the one nomination to be eligible for the other, forcing the RNC to go through extra trouble to fill both positions.

Furthermore, everyone on the inside of both sides knows him to be a fucking moron who was put in the VP slot to spare Indiana an embarrassing gubernatorial loss this year. He's the RNC's second-to-last choice for a successor to Donald Trump, right after Ted Cruz.

(I should add that Democrats have been taking it easy on Pence because in a worst-case scenario he's the perfect President of the Senate: totally ignorant and probably unwilling to do the ostensibly ceremonial job of conducting the Senate's business. Unlike Joe Biden, you're never going to see a VP Pence take over the Senate and tie the opposition in procedural knots while his side's leadership works offstage. But if he were to step to the fore, the gloves would come off and all the scandals he's trying to outrun would be trundled out with excellent effect.)

But I think it's more important to look at it from Pence's point of view: When he got trounced in his first electoral bid, he became a conservative media stooge.

When he went upside down in his approval ratings as governor, with an election looming, I think he happily took Trump's offer as running mate because Trump is obviously training up a television network, with nonrefundable public funding. I suspect Pence's object isn't to win, it is to secure lucrative employment after he gets his ass beat.

Tue Sep 13, 2016, 11:49 PM
Sep 2016

This came out, back in July, from Josh Marshall. But it STILL speaks loudly, and it's MOST intriguing. The point's been made that Trump's so deep in debt that he's had to turn to Russian funding sources. Why? Because he's declared bankruptcy (his method of weaseling out of various big-ticket obligations) so many times by now that American banks don't want to lend him money anymore.

I'll list off some facts.

1. All the other discussions of Trump's finances aside, his debt load has grown dramatically over the last year, from $350 million to $630 million. This is in just one year while his liquid assets have also decreased. Trump has been blackballed by all major US banks.

2. Post-bankruptcy Trump has been highly reliant on money from Russia, most of which has over the years become increasingly concentrated among oligarchs and sub-garchs close to Vladimir Putin. Here's a good overview from The Washington Post, with one morsel for illustration ...
Since the 1980s, Trump and his family members have made numerous trips to Moscow in search of business opportunities, and they have relied on Russian investors to buy their properties around the world.
“Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets,” Trump’s son, Donald Jr., told a real estate conference in 2008, according to an account posted on the website of eTurboNews, a trade publication. “We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.”

She came up in the age when suddenly writers came out and ere very visible. Lots of attractive low talent men and women benefited from that.

I was wondering when the press would get around to pointing out the conflict of interests that would occur should Trump become President.

It's been emails and the Clinton Foundation 24/7 for far too long.

Seriously, how is Trump going to handle his wide web of business dealings if he should become President?

I still do not understand how the media is not reporting on Trump's bribery of politicians. Why is there no FBI investigation of Trump's Bribes to public officials?

83. I think this is being exaggerated
Wed Sep 14, 2016, 05:35 AM
Sep 2016

I would love for this to be a "bombshell" but Huffington Post seems to be blowing this out of proportion (typical HP).

The author of the article tweeted, "My big cover story in @Newsweek that could change the dialogue about this election season will be published online tomorrow."

The guy who wrote it says the story "could change the dialogue". He doesn't even call it a bombshell. There is no text on the cover of Newsweek itself that indicates a bombshell story.

87. I Wonder if This Will Matter to His Working Class Supporters
Wed Sep 14, 2016, 09:45 AM
Sep 2016

I so hope this slices off another group of Trumpsters. Will it matter to a core group of his supporters? But who I am worried about is the millions of white working class folks who will vote for him. They have been shafted by this society and they are angry. These are the people that Trump really resonates with. He has seen their pain and he has talked about it in a way that they understand. This is the key. Some of these Trump supporters are dangerous people whom he has given permission to say and do thinks that to us are unthinkable. Violence is talked about and acted upon.

Many Democratic candidates have failed to connect with the working class, have no idea how to talk to them, and have ignored their downward economic spiral. Joe Biden can't do it alone! Stop using all those big words and get more perspective about how these people have been really been trickled on during the massive economic downturn of the last 30 years.

Let's hope that this raises the red flag and causes major grief for Trump and the Republicans...

But what I want to know is this:

Will this suck up the airwaves and be debated and talked about as much as Hillary's emails?
Will this get the attention it deserves?
Will it "even matter" or will Con man Don find a way to weasel talk his way out?

"scandal" will go absolutely nowhere in the minds of Trump supporters. Sorry, but this is really an over exaggerated headline. Trump will be in it until the election and then the voting population get to decide - and let's hope they make the right decision. This guy is the definition of the Teflon Don and it will not matter one bit among the deplorables.

He is a cancer... he gets bigger and bigger in the minds of his voters.

Surrogates, have something in writing to point to. Prior to this you had to hunt down a dozen articles of varying quality. It's a step.
