Congressman Dan Kildee's statement on the Trump visit to Flint, today

Via Facebook

After months of ignoring Flint, Donald Trump decided to come to Flint today. He didn't go to Washington to press for help, or to the Republicans in Lansing to ask them to fix the problems they created — he showed up to our city to stand in front of cameras and basically do everything he could to draw attention to himself.

Donald Trump's philosophy of governance sounds so much like Governor Rick Snyder's style of governance that caused this crisis in the first place — profits over people, dollars and cents, better deals — we've seen that movie before. We know what the results are here in Flint, and across Michigan.

If he had shown up immediately after this crisis became known in the way that Hillary Clinton did, and stayed engaged with the community in the way that Hillary Clinton has, it would be more meaningful. But Trump is behaving as if the Flint water crisis finally made the front page, and he needs to do something about it. This is a crisis that has been brewing for two years. Where has he been?
