(32,610 posts)The last thing the House Republican leaders want is a full investigation of anything related to their golden boy and right wing operative Director Petraeus.
They also don't want Paula's ties to Fox News investigated.

(5,453 posts)They look like fools for crying wolf again and again and again. Not only that, we can easily shut them down with three words: Obama killed Osama.
Besides, no one outside of the Fox audience takes any of their whiny shit seriously.

(27,787 posts)That failure of foreign policy and national security is the current bar for impeachment.
Anytime a Republican attacks Obama, point it out.

(10,749 posts)I don't think there are going to be an hearings in the House.
It sure is going to be interesting in the Senate, though.
Frankly, I don't think this warranted an FBI investigation, and, once it started, it didn't need to go public. But, since it's made its way into the public arena, there's no stopping an investigation.

(242 posts)Same as Clinton.
Republicans just want an excuse to investigate anything and everything, hoping to have a reason to tie the President to some issue, to get a chance to question him and hope to find a contradiction.

(63,912 posts)House knew and kept it under wraps until after the Election. Even Richard Haas told him to cool it and let the facts play out...

(9,874 posts)A rougue FBI agent (who Cantor is trying to call a "Whistle blower" feeding Cantor what they may have considered damaging info to Obama on Bengazi that they uncovered while investigating leaks from the CIA chief's boinkee. And the leak to Cantor being on October 27, there can be no doubt in my mind what the motive was.

(14,177 posts)The day the hour and the minute. Because it was about 10 seconds after that some guy in a dirty white t-shirt was watching it and got on his computer and demanded that Obama be impeached over this issue. I doubt any elected RWers are going to do any such thing. But, if they want to roll that way let them. This will bite them in the butt.

(5,611 posts)the election, but it didn't catch on. They seemed to be convinced that if they talked about it incessantly on *every* show -- making it seem as though Obama had somehow directly caused the attack and its aftermath -- that this would be a "game-changer."
That didn't happen of course. But Fox is very stubborn, and they are convinced that they have something really meaty here. Even though the Petraeus scandal seems totally unrelated to Benghazi, they are trying extra, extra hard to draw a connection to this (they fantastize -- apparently -- that this could really add up to something -- to what I have no idea).

(448 posts)outside of a handful of wackos with keyboard courage "demanding" it. This story actually damages the ReThugs MORE than Obama. Broadwell's connection to the GOP, Petraeus was considered to run as a GOP candidate, Cantor and Issa...and even Romney & Bain, if you want to go that far.
So far the only Dem even remotely connected via talk was Dianne Feinstein. Even that was mainly due to her position and the fact that the FBI investigation MAY NOT have reported it to the Intelligence Committee as it should have.

(17,200 posts)... the GOP already have sufficient excuse to start impeachment proceedings. Not that they need any.

Actually, if they did, I wouldn't be surprised.

(3,502 posts)They already look stupid. But they'll do it anyway. They call for impeachment just because it's Wednesday sometimes.
