For Holly Petraeus, furious would be an understatement in describing her feelings after her husband of 38 years, Gen. David Petraeus, admitted to an extramarital affair and resigned from his post as director of the CIA, according to a report on Monday.
Well, as you can imagine, shes not exactly pleased right now, retired U.S. Army Col. Steve Boylan, a former spokesman for Petraeus, told ABC News. In a conversation with David Petraeus this weekend, he said that, Furious would be an understatement. And I think anyone thats been put in that situation would probably agree. He deeply hurt the family.
Boylan added that Petraeus first of all, deeply regrets and knows how much pain this has caused his family.
Petraeus resigned from his post Friday, citing an extramarital affair. Reports over the weekend indicated that Paula Broadwell, the woman with whom he had the affair, was the subject of an FBI inquiry after threatening emails sent to one of Petraeuss female friends were traced back to her, news reports said.

(34,390 posts)I am so glad I never had to deal with that. Been with my honey for almost 30 years and I've never had to give it a thought. Even though he is confined to a nursing home, probably permanently, I wouldn't dream of being with anybody else, and I know I could trust him if the situation was reversed.

(1,117 posts)Infidelity is horrible. Been in a similar situation and it really sucked. Beside this is being played out in the media. I had to come to terms with it in a private settings not in the public. Believe me she furious but also humiliated. What is it with men? I know it's not all men but it is quite a few of them, especially the ones who are in powerful positions. Maybe they just think they can get away with it.

(40,416 posts)This is the type of reportage that belongs on daytime TV (possibly as a break-in to one of the soaps).
Gees! These are personal matters and have no news value, except possibly on Oprah.
