2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumanecdotes aren't scientific, but my own experience tells me this election won't even be close.
yes, i can read the polls and such, and yes, i know that i hang out on a democratic website, and yes, i'm in blue connecticut (hardly the left-wing mecca that is vermont of massachusetts, but still)....
but i've never seen, in any election cycle, so many real people eager to talk about the election and how incredibly lopsided the decision is. i know a few people who will surely be voting for trump. they've been very, very quiet. but random people are volunteering to talk about the election and it's *always* about how horrible trump is.
polls aside, i think turnout is going to be yuuuuge. a lot of people will be coming out to vote for the first woman president; a lot of people will be coming out to vote against the first orangetan candidate for president.
i've been confident that hillary's got this for a long time now, and i remain quite confident. gotv, of course, but... yeah... she's got this.

(52,253 posts)connecticut isn't as gaudy as some other places. there are plenty of "millionaires next door" types who have plenty of money, vote republican, but live modestly. in fact, being miserly is part of the wealth accumulation strategy.
in any event, he certainly took a risk.
older guy, part-time worker. retired from mortgage finance, just in it for a few extra bucks and to "stay out of trouble".
i'm certainly don't trust salespeople with a 10-foot pole, but he also knows i've been researching and pricing it out for nearly two months(!)

(1,427 posts)But I also hope Hillary remembers her platform - if she doesn't follow through the next Bernie gets my vote and if he/she loses to a by-the-book candidate, I'll sit out or vote Communist! The 2020's are the new 1930's. We are counting on her!
Trump supporters mad and upset at CNN reporters they are sick ... They say no matter what trumpie says won't change their mind That's ok we will prevail with our voters while getting more of the undecided These trump supporters are nuts and just plain mean I understand they are upset but they are mad at the wrong people

(17,863 posts)They actually said that he won last night. Also one of them was on a right wing website and reported that it said that the emails show conversations between Clinton and Obama in the released emails.
Most right wingers, especially those who clutch their Bibles and guns, will find any reason to not vote for Clinton.

(236 posts)I normally don't see a lot of political Facebook posts. None of my friends are into posting those kinds of things, which I appreciate. When I logged on last night, I was thrilled to see post after post of my friends saying what a disaster Trump was. He really has made people speak out in disgust. I hope that translates to votes!
