2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhat's this nonsense about Trump and the first 20 minutes??
He did nothing but blurt out the same tired crap he's been using all year. The one about the Mexico factory guy and the air conditioners, absolutely nothing new. When asked to explain his remedy he had nothing to say except the same old bromides about some vague impossible extra-constitutional fines and restrictions he'd levy against the corporations.
I don't know about you, but I saw nothing to suggest he "won" a god damn thing.

(21,160 posts)The only time I thought he did good was talking about jobs being sent overseas by trade bills.
I wish Hillary had said that the Demicrats introduced bills to charge a large exit tax on these companies and the charge them a high import tax to bring products back in.

(47,209 posts)Gibberish. It's just that it got much much worse. Look at the Vox article. It's stunning he gets any credit for that.

Donald, you choked and embarrassed yourself in front of the world. Deal with it.

(4,533 posts)European nations replaced mercantilism with open trade because mercantilism stunted economic growth needed to build competitive armies and navies. The open trade nations were zooming ahead. But it is almost impossible to convince someone that Ford opening factories in Mexico is good for us in the broader view.
So when Trump slams trade he gets lots of support.
Hilary needs better answers to counter Trump on this topic.

(8,924 posts)he didn't answer Holt's question about how he was going to get businesses to come back to the U.S. Guess its all they had to even try to spin given the disaster of the rest of his performance.
