2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTrump's sniffing is a minor thing, compared to
what he says and how he says it. I noticed his sniffing right away during the debate and then ignored it completely so it wouldn't distract me from his word salad delivery, his constant interruptions of Hillary, and the incredibly stupid statements he made.
So he sniffs after every sentence. Who cares? Lots of people do, for one reason or another.
Let's focus on what's wrong with his thinking, his attitudes and his demeanor. Let's attack Trump on substantive things, not the state of his nasal passages. Let's call him out for his dangerous policies and lack of knowledge. Let's defeat him with something that matters, not some nasal congestion.
How does that sound?

(35,699 posts)When he was self confident and on the attack he did not sniff. That is why it is important. It is not nasal congestion.

(13,783 posts)... if it hadn't been for the media's ridiculous focusing on Clinton's case of walking pneumonia. If it could do so much damage to her, maybe it can to him. This is not the time to take on ourselves the burden of intelligent elections.

(52,253 posts)animated movie for kids. many of the characters are dogs and one of them is a nasty alpha dog, leader of the pack. eventually our hero dog manages to maneuver the alpha dog into the "cone of shame" (a veterinary dog collar).
all the other dogs laugh at the alpha dog, who is humiliated and loses his role as leader of the pack.
ideally, the voting population would act better than pack animals, but that's certainly the level at which trump and his supporters operate. no insult to pack animals intended.
alpha dog status is the *only* thing trump has going for him. put a dent in that and he's toast.

(20,709 posts)The sniffing hurt his overall impression in the debate, and if that helps some undecided voters come over to our side, then I'm happy about it.
