If this is just a hay in the sack why on earth are they searching and taking items out of her house in boxes. She wasn't even home at the time of the search and the fact that she has lawyer-ed up is another mystery she is reported to have a defense lawyer.you don't need a defense lawyer for a extra martial affair there's something else to this story we don't know yet http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2012/11/12/fbi-search-home-paula-broadwell/1701495/

But you don't spend 4.5 hours taking out boxes upon boxes of evidence, including two computers in a 'non-raid that was basically nothing.'
They were looking for something. No doubt about it.

(13,190 posts)maybe they just want to be on the safe side making sure she's not a spy.But on the other hand why hire a defense lawyer

(36,437 posts)Indeed, that was one of the challenges of the investigation: they had to match up this person with a series of anonymous accounts, which they did using IP addresses and linking her with the various physical locations (usually hotels) from which the emails were sent.
There is no indication that she used the general's account to send any emails whatsoever. She did share yet another anonymous account with Petraeus, and they used that account to communicate by draft email.
Your understanding of the case is incorrect.
HereSince1628
(36,063 posts)it appears that that account was shared.

(448 posts)In a way. What they did was each have their own accounts, then log into the other's account to read the typed "email" without actually sending it.
Sounds like some TV spy stuff. Here's the quote:
Petraeus and Broadwell apparently used a trick, known to terrorists and teenagers alike, to conceal their email traffic, one of the law enforcement officials said.
Rather than transmitting emails to the other's inbox, they composed at least some messages and instead of transmitting them, left them in a draft folder or in an electronic "dropbox," the official said. Then the other person could log onto the same account and read the draft emails there. This avoids creating an email trail that is easier for outsiders to intercept or trace.
(9,000 posts)I think the sex just happened to open a door. Now you have the CIA and the Army involved with the same women. My tinfoil hat tells me that they were used to serendipitously leak information for the defense department to friendly media markets. General Allen didn't write 30,000 sex mails to the Kelley woman. That would be ludicrous, but selected intelligence that would help their cause (whatever that cause might be) is where I would put my money. These woman had extraordinary access to the top leadership and they would be useful to that leadership.
I also think they will sell this as some sort of sex-capade and let it go down the rabbit hole.

(39,321 posts)There is info saying that Allen did send 25 emails a day, that is substantial, but they were "flirty" now who does that much emailing.. friends?

I'm wondering if these women were part of a loosely configured escort arrangement--where these attractive women are paired with high level brass. Jill Kelly did not have a paid position but seems to have logged in a lot of time. Seemes strange.
